Wow, I'm honestly blown away by all your comments and personal responses about this video. I'm really glad this video resonated with so many of you. Although these are very painful things that we're resonating with, just remember that we now have the power to rewrite the narrative, to shed light on shame culture, and to empower each other towards true acceptance of self and others. LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH. ❤️ Also, all makeup products have been added to the description box! 🥰

Yessss! Learning to truly love people was such a life-changing lesson for me. When we love ourselves and feel confident in our own skin without the approval of others, then we truly have so much genuine, overflowing love to give to others 💛

Wow, thank you so so much for having this honest, reflective conversation about topics that are too widely ignored and brushed under the rug. I really resonated with so much of your story, coming from a conservative Christian and Asian American household. Your journey is one that I’m currently on now, as I try to navigate my early 20s and reconciling all these different pieces of my life. Thank you so much for sharing your story with all of us ✨

OOooh wow that's so awesome. These are things I really wish I thought about in my early 20's, and I'm so glad you're doing that inner work during this time in your life. Wishing you the very best on this complicated, beautiful journey of self-discovery! Rooting for you!! ^_^

"I didn't realize I had so much shame around cleavage." Loved this moment. I didn't think I'd watch this type of video but very insightful in terms of understanding what's behind a person and their view of themselves and being ok with "sexiness". I definitely think I relate to the idea of being in a Christian bubble and how we are "supposed" to look/act like (i.e. shame culture). And I definitely relate to the being judged of what I post on social media around the idea of beauty and sexiness. Overall awesome video!
@SerenaLeeKim4 жыл бұрын
Omg yeah wow that was such a big moment for me. Thank you so much, Chong! 😊 Honestly, thank you for sharing your experience, and I hope that you continue to do you despite the haters. Speaking from my own experience, I feel like having so much internalized shame and self-judgment has made it so easy for me to then project shame and judgment onto others too. So yeah, I hope that just goes to show that when others judge you, it's on them, not you! I respect your confidence to continue breaking the mold!

Found you through AHN! And omg I'm so glad I watched this video. The struggle with identity and sexuality as an Asian American woman is such a unique one, and it felt so good to hear your perspective. Congrats on your journey! Keep going and keep sharing! Serena Kim keep up the good work! Haha I was gonna make my channel mixed with food, self talk and LDR. But because people told me that’s not a good idea I’ve been sitting around
@SerenaLeeKim4 жыл бұрын
@@AnGeezChannel Aw I'm so sorry that people told you it wasn't a good idea! :( Just to clarify, does LDR mean long distance relationship? I think all those topics you mentioned are extremely interesting to watch! One thing I learned this year is that in order to succeed, we must believe in ourselves and our convictions, even when others do not believe in us. That really helped give me a lot of courage. We have to be our greatest supporter because we know ourselves best. 💛

Serena Kim yes ldr is long distance relationship hehe. I think I am gonna start publishing one of the myths so I can educate friends that just because he got married he isn’t a legal citizen

Absolutely loved this video!!! I have so many thoughts to say I should’ve written them down while watching haha, but it’s because I relate to this so much!!! I grew up in a Christian school but within a secular family so I was in between open-minded and traditional as a result. I would say only the last few years I’ve really felt like I can be myself and embrace who I truly am without the fear of what my Christian counterparts might say. I’ve definitely been shamed by Christians in my life for doing things that a secular person would see no problem with, so it’s been a journey to really break those barriers and realise I am not a bad Christian if I do x, y, z. Truly couldn’t love this video more and this needs to be discussed within the Christian community because I’m sure many people’s own personalities are being stifled by traditionalist views.
@SerenaLeeKim4 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness... Michelle, thank you so much for sharing your experience and journey. I'm so sorry for the shame that was put on you by others, and I totally relate with that. I absolutely agree that this needs to be discussed within the Christian community more. It's something that so many of us feel, but it's so easy to just stay quiet and hide because the pressure is so real. I hope that we can continue to use the corners and circles of influence that we do have to speak up about this and empower each other to stop defining ourselves and our faith based on one conservative/traditionalist viewpoint. I appreciate you so much!

@SerenaLeeKim4 жыл бұрын
Awww I'm so glad, Doris!! ❤️ Yes! I actually don't own any liquid foundation right now, so I used a little bit of my bareMinerals BarePro Performance Wear Powder foundation as a very light base, and then used Too Faced Born This Way Multi-Use Sculpting concealer as my "foundation" for my under eyes, under the nose, etc! The curling iron is Hot Tools 24K Gold Extra Long 1-1/4'' Curling Iron. Especially when my hair is long, I like the extra long length of the iron so that it holds all of my hair as I curl! Makes the process quicker!
