GREAT VIDEOOOO! idk if this would help but my lecturers taught us to write the normal values down pH (7.35 - 7.45), HCO3 (22 - 26) but for PCO2 write it as 45 - 35 (rather than 35 - 45), that way everything towards the left would be acidotic and anything towards the right would be alkalotic :D

hi just a question. just in case they give you an abg result that is fully compensated meaning ph is normal.. pco2 is acidic and hco3 is basic.. how will i know if its metabolic or respi..or is that even possible..or they will need to give me a condition or disease so i can decide if its metabolic or respi..

Thanks for watching the video! Please check out my videos on acid-base imbalances (metabolic and respiratory acidosis/alkalosis) for a full explanation on compensated and fully compensated. I go into the patho and how it affects the body. It is rather in depth and too much to write here in the comment section. Also, at the end of each video I go over an ABG problem and talk about how to tell if it is partially or fully compensated. Here are the videos (vids 4-7 in the playlist): kzbin.info/aero/PLQrdx7rRsKfWJSZ9pL8L3Q1dzdlxUzeKv
