About 20 years back, somewhere during 2004, was having a cursory glance at an Australian Magazine. Suddenly something caught my attention. A non-Indian writer had written an article connecting the Indian Independence and World War II relation and the real reason for Britishers leaving India. The real economic reason and what is the impact of World War II on all the colonists and why all of them started leaving their colonies. Absolutely spot on Mr. Iyer Mitra. (Broccoli Almond). Since then I have been always telling people how our history is distorted and how Mohan Das Karam Chand Gandhi's role is so irrelevant to our Independence movement. And since then I started celebrating the Birthday of Lal Bahadur Shastri only.

Gandhi had a good second order thinking. Freedom at the earlier period wouldn’t have resulted in United India but many small kingdoms. To build country Gandhi wanted 1) Army 2) constitution and democracy 1. To build National Army, Gandhi encouraged Indians to join World War I. He wanted to remove the Ottomans a potential threat for India as he was dealing with identity crisis on his kilafat ( caliphate ) movement 2. Without constitution and democracy , country will be in power struggle. He demanded voting rights and trained the population and mentality for democratic government. After army and democracy base are set up that’s when India was ready for freedom and that was when he started quit India movement. World War 2 followed and time was ripe and the pressure from Netaji, Indian navy coup and bankrupt Britain, American market requirement all aligned for Indias freedom.

Just because someone can speak good English and appear polished and sophisticated doesn’t mean whatever nonsense they say would be gospel truth or words of wisdom which is why many of guys like these move around blurting rubbish and people consume the same to stay ill informed.
