Why don’t Indian railway split the Tatkal timings. Instead of putting the Tatkal time at 10:00 AM for the entire country, isn’t it better if they did something like Southern Railway 09:00 AM, Northern Railway 10:00 AM like that? This would prevent the overload on servers.

Brother, there are 17 zones in IR. So it is not possible. But in near future these stupid waiting list and tatkal system will be stopped. In future we can reserve tickets whenever we want (even on running trains) and we will be able to see seat availability, from where to where it is available, and also choose the seat we want.

In the current scenario, almost everywhere, the track is used to its full capacity already. Like weekend special buses, weekend special trains will help. For such trains, an additional 20% rate might be Ok for people who would like to travel on weekends. Availability check after chart preparation is already available. But it rarely is useful now. I used it a month back.
