India's Most Modified Yamaha R3: Ohlins Suspension, Flash Tune ECU, Brembo RCS15...

Meet the Yamaha R3 with the ultimate street set up with parts worth nearly Rs 2 lakh.
This bike was built by Speedmonks Performance Centre for my friend Amit Seymour to ride at the Buddh International Circuit, but I think they ended up building the perfect R3 for the road.
The weakest link in the stock Yamaha R3 was its suspension - too soft.
Well, this bike runs an Ohlins spring kit at the front and an Ohlins race suspension at the rear, which are completely tuneable.
That has made a huge impact to how it rides and handles now.
The Flash Tune ECU reflash gives it a little bit more poke and so does the full system Scorpion exhaust system.
The brakes have been upgraded too - Brembo RCS15 master cylinder, HEL direct steel braided lines, Adelin four piston caliper, 300 mm wave rotor at the front - needless to say, it has enough braking power. Maybe a little too much.
It runs better tyres too - Metzeler M5.
This bike also has a Hot Bodies race fairing and Vortex clip on handlebars, but they have been taken off for now, since it is being ridden on the road.

Learning in stock hits different. Making bike track oriented is like making things easier to learn. Bone stock motorcycle should be pushed into its limits and ridden to the fullest. Exhaust is the only thing everyone need to feel the revs.

Very much true, R3 is an extremely well-built bike by Yamaha, due to the price as compared to RC390 it was not successful. Yamaha makes simple and easy-to-go bikes but extremely good quality. Just for example Tenere 700 (adventure bike). In 2021, with no electronics yet killer in European Market. Hoping to see in India soon.

This how an experience and mature rider rides a motorcycle and also modifies one. Instead of installing stickers and useless visual mods this is how a bike should he modified. And you are right about everything you said about the r3 its price and the comparison to the ktm duke rc series. The reliability is second to none as i am an owner of r15 v2 for 7 years and v3 for 9 months. I wish to own an r3 one day. Please do a top speed run if possible. I’m really a huge fan of the R3 . I’ve one deal in my city it’s of 2017 or 2018 model maybe and it’s for sale at 1.8lakh but the thing is it has done 43k on odo . So I’m confused even if i get it i must need to give it a major service maybe after a few thousands of kms . And 43k odo even if i plan to sell in future it’s odo would be even more and the selling price would be even worse . So should i get it or keep on looking for another deal ? Rc390 makes more sense you know for ttack use all the elctronics , engine nature and the way it handles makes it superior. The R3 is a great motorcycle but it feels more of an sports tourer

Aprilla looks promising, but I'm a little concerned after watching it rank near bottom of Fortnine reviewing best motorcycles. KTM sounds promising, and a VFM, but looks like the new RC won't be launching this year with the 399 CC engine.

Yamaha India is sleeping on the potential of the Indian market. Given the way ADV Tourers have picked up, the Tenere 700 makes absolute sense in our conditions, and that could open up the big bike market for them all over again. I remember walking into a Yamaha showroom back in 2009 to buy the just launched FZ and R15 and remember gawking at the bigger bikes. That was a time when only Yamaha had a proper big-bike presence in India. What an absolute shame. They're missing out, we're missing out.
