I saw Abi performing at the Villagefest in Palm Springs last Thursday. It is an outdoor Farmer's Market. She was taking requests and sang several songs including a beautiful version of Both Sides Now.

I'm rarely impressed by "singers" anymore, especially reailty auditions. "Singers" I used because most people in the industry these days are studio artists, and we rarely witness true vocalists. Almost 34 years ago, a song played on the radio for the first time and as I listened to the first few lines, I knew that I knew that I knew, (still can't explain it) this girl was going to change the entire industry and become one of the world's most iconic and best vocalists of musical recorded history, and she certainly did just that... that young vocalist in 1990-- became the incomparable living legend Mariah Carey. And as I watched your American Idol audition, I experienced the same feeling as I did when I first heard Mariah. Your voice is pure straight from your heart & soul and each note weaves a beautiful thread becoming a priceless tapestry as the song guides a true journey. The industry is brutal and can alter individuals in many ways, most negatively. Hold tight and true to exactly who you are, and protect your God-given instrument that is your voice. I'm ecstatic to watch your journey and can't wait to hear what will no doubt be one hit after another. And to your amazing supportive siblings, clearly you are all exceptional human beings with an amazing Mom. Best wishes to you all!
