FUN FACT: Abigail is based on and a reimagining of the 1936 Universal Classic Monsters film Dracula's Daughter which I think is a cool concept and brilliant under the Universal brand.

@DajourTaylor I thought it was amazing for so many reasons on the filmmaking scene. I was much more brilliant than the horrors in the genre that have been releasing lately, anything from Blumhouse has been a complete dumpster fire lately. Evil Dead which came not to long ago wasn't great, it was ridiculous and I couldn't give shit about any of the characters except for the pregnant sister. Though I did like immaculate and now abigail was pretty good

I’m literally about to watch this movie in 15 mins and I’m excited to see it cause people like Cody Leach saying it was his favorite movie at the film festival he went to and it’s the best vampire movie in years. I’m not big on famous movie monster type horror but that did make me interested. The movie was awesome I loved it best horror movie of the year. Feels so good to have constant bangers coming out now.

A theater near my work had some early screenings and I was able to catch the last one after I got off work. I personally loved this movie. Not only because it’s everything you could want from a fun vampire movie. But, also because it introduced me to one of my new favorite songs. It played during the closing credits and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it since.

I believe it's a setup that Abigail made to recruit Joey as her next Vampire guardian, as Lambert was tired of being an immortal and wanted to retire. So everything was setup this way to introduce to Joey what a true vampire is, and that they also keep their word. Vampires are old people who values loyalty and honor even when they are brutal, this is what they seek for a companion, it is hard to find. Even tho they have all the money and power, loyalty cannot be bought. So Abigail keeps looking for someone who is an overcomer like Joey, someone who keeps their word, and because she had a history of overcoming addiction she is unique and can't be glamoured or controlled by any vampire. She is of great value to the child vampire and is specifically chosen for this test because of her profile, a nurturing mother, an ex-addict, overcoming obstacles to go back to her child. She is exactly as Abigail wants as a pseudo mother. I think Abigail set this whole thing up as she is a master of deceit, she was never in danger to begin with. A very old vampire like that survived that long for their cunning and not merely for their power. If they are ever making a 2nd movie this is how I see this whole thing... Just a thought. I could be wrong.

Go watch the movie 😅 . . . - right at the beginning, he gives away a minor twist, that getting the group there was a trap. - the collectible he gets, he says its from a scene in the movie. - Melissa Barera's motivation; her son, which could lead us to believe she'll most likely survive. - A certain new character steps on the scene in the last 5 minutes.

It kinda fell apart in the last act by trying to make Abigail humane and compassionate. It’s like they didn’t fully commit 100% and weren’t sure how to end the movie. 7.5/10

Spoilers: They were building up to that the entire movie between the 2 of them. She had repressed undead daddy issues and the final girl kept calling it out. They had a somewhat motherly bond with the pinky swear and child discussion as well. She was a killing machine but she also had a code of honor. They scratched each other's backs and as thanks her previous sins towards the family were wiped clean. Interestingly, daddy didn't hate her as she thought because he let her uphold that bargain in the end and even gave final girl the warning.

It actually reminded me of the atmospheric vibes of a very little known 1997 film adaptation of one of Stephen King's short stories from his anthology book 'Nightmares & Dreamscapes'. The film is 'The Night Flier'. It stars Miguel Ferrer and it's available for free on KZbin in full.

My gripe with movies these days is just they can make a good movie but it seems that nobody knows how to finish a movie properly anymore. The past 5 movies I've watched have all had just awful endings that either make no sense or it just leaves you wondering but in a bad way because things became to convoluted.

You hands down favor, sweet coat Melissa Barrera. She did an OK job, fair at best. The show stopper definitely was Alisha Weir as Abigail. The producer said in an online interview that he drew upon Lost Boys and Fright Night to make this 1, after watching it 4 times on the IMAX on Friday, I definitely see it. Theater was empty each time and sure hope it does not tank. I wonder if Chris say an interview yesterday with his fave talking about an Abigail 2. 5 starts out of 5. 2ND Best horror movie this yr in my option. Outstanding Review

I thought the script wasn’t good. The advance screening I saw it at… jokes never landed. It was such an experience because the movie bombed. Every joke line.. pure silence. Plus the characters… I didn’t care for them 🥲 Wish I liked it as much as everyone is saying how good it is. I give it 2 stars out of 5 because the girls acting was amazing and some gruesome moments but the movie was long. No real stakes.

I think that is one of the biggest mistakes of this movie - the advertisements and commercials spoiled the vampire plot line. For half or 2/3 of the movie, I really enjoy the movie as a heist drama. But the final 1 or 2 battles got a more standard issue fights for vampire movie.
