In the mood for something a bit on the spooky side? Join me for tonight's ghost story, "From The Tomb," if you dare! Set in an idyllic bathhouse resort, two strangers with a mysterious past pique their fellow bathers' attention - in a creepy, "touched-by-death" sort-of-way. The strangers then recount their horrendous ordeal... and then go about their merry way?! This tale, Guy de Maupassant's "From The Tomb," is read in a soft voice and to some light and eerie background music. I hope you enjoy this evening's chilling short story animation!

Curious... the woman in this story makes me think of the story of this woman who was thought dead, was then buried with her valuable ring, grave robbers tried to take the ring, they then cut off her finger and she in turn awoke. She then went home to her husband (I think it is the event of the “died once, buried twice” gravestone, which actually happened)

I know this video was posted almost 2 years ago and that the story is much older, but I can't help mentioning that the ring might be more significant than it seems at first. Just remember how many objects in fairytales and even featured in multiple of your abitfrank videos will make someone seem dead if worn or touching their flesh for them to revive once removed. Could this be how the girl recovered when her finger was cut off. With Prosper falling dead all of a sudden how could they know he was the thief. Only thing I can think of is if he wore the ring. Could it be it was not shock that got the "dear valet", but instead that the ring claimed a new victim, I wonder. Just thought that could be a clever extra dimension to the story.

I have one of his books I bought from a library for a dollar. The book was published in 1903. The complete Short Stories of Guy De Maupassant. Alas, this story isn't in it.

There is actually a story that talks about a woman who dies and when someone tries to cut her finger to steal her jewellery she wakes up and the robber accidentally gets himself stabbed with his own knife
