Bill Wyman has to be the most overlooked talent of The 5 original Rolling Stones. This is really a nice song. It's a shame his talents were not featured more.
@NilezII
@NilezII Жыл бұрын
His talents weren't featured more because he didn't have much support from Mick and Keith. You aren't born knowing how to write songs, unless you are exceptionally talented, and will probably need help through your Rubbish Phase (not this song). That he knocked it out by himself is commendable.

This is so good. When he awoke and you hear Mick Jagger in the background it's like the psychedelic dream goes away for a brief moment of this album and they're back to being The "classic" Rolling Stones again. Then to another dream land. This is honestly one of the best psychedelic albums ever.

Bill wrote this because they had studio time, but he was the only one who showed up. Steve Marriot was also in the building with The Faces, and helped. You can hear his high voice on the chorus. Keith hated this and put the snoring in at the end.

One of my favorites, too. Not often I meet people who think that. Glad to have met you. At one point in the early seventies, Mick Jagger said that the band's next album would continue the line of Satanic Majesties. Never happened. Instead, they did stuff such as Exile on Main Street. I lost interest in the band after Brian's death.

funny, i feel the same way. i loved that even tho this was a retort to Sgt. Pepper's,the songs are really trippy,the one time the Stones really leaned on the studio and it's affects.I too wish they stayed in this vein for a while longer.I know this is often derided but it's a fun,unpredictable and has a bunch of catchy tunes.and a terrific cover.

wertheriano Just to note, that this was because during the recording sessions, random people would show up because of the different lawsuits the Richards, Jones, and Jagger were attending because of drug use. One day, he walked into the studio, and recorded this song, and later, the rest of the Stones played their parts. The snoring at the end was a prank played by Richards and Jagger on Wyman. The eight straight album set "Aftermath", "Between The Buttons", "Flowers", "Satanic Majesties Request", "Beggar's Banquet", "Let It Bleed", "Sticky Fingers", and "Exile On Main Street", are without parallel, and will never be equalled.

Fantasy rock 'n' roll at its very best... Always loved loved loved this one. Heavenly tune, helps make this album what it is---a tarnished, spotty, romantic masterpiece. Just check out some of the alternate takes of this and other tracks on the lp, with some of the layering removed, and hear how masterful the instrumentation actually was. Some of it got lost in the layers, but somehow shines through just the same, creating a most ethereal atmosphere overall.

Most revile this album but I like it and its wild experimentation. A lot more interesting than much (not all) of their later stuff.

A psychedelic gem written by talented Bill Wyman. Best song of 'Satanic Majesties' along with "She's a Rainbow" and "2000 Light Years From Home".

I love that intro. There has been a lot of misinformation about this track. It's Bill Wyman's song and his vocal. I remember when it was released in the USA as a single.

I like the way you worded that " Reaching Wisdom ". It seems to me, you have no choice. You will be wise. Like it or not. As Bill wrote " I opened my eyes, and much to my surprise ".

Originally titled "Acid In The Grass" but the title was changed, and Bill's snores were added, without his knowledge!

That's because Mick and Keith recorded Bill sleeping. He didn't know about this until the album came out.

That's because Keith is a fucking dick and couldn't stand Wyman getting any credit for anything, any time, ever. So he had to add the snoring part in an attempt to embarrass Bill, who wasn't even told about it until after the album was released. Richards is an asshole.
