Bill Wyman has to be the most overlooked talent of The 5 original Rolling Stones. This is really a nice song. It's a shame his talents were not featured more.

His talents weren't featured more because he didn't have much support from Mick and Keith. You aren't born knowing how to write songs, unless you are exceptionally talented, and will probably need help through your Rubbish Phase (not this song). That he knocked it out by himself is commendable.

This is so good. When he awoke and you hear Mick Jagger in the background it's like the psychedelic dream goes away for a brief moment of this album and they're back to being The "classic" Rolling Stones again. Then to another dream land. This is honestly one of the best psychedelic albums ever.

Bill wrote this because they had studio time, but he was the only one who showed up. Steve Marriot was also in the building with The Faces, and helped. You can hear his high voice on the chorus. Keith hated this and put the snoring in at the end.

You might be surprised to also know that Bill, Brian, and even Charlie helped write many of the songs but were never given credit. Bill has had a very good career on his own. I love his band of rotating stars The Rhythm Kings.

I like this album a lot for different reasons. They attempted to do the Sgt. Pepper thing and it didn't work. That doesn't mean there aren't good songs because there are. I would have taken the good ones and made an EP out them and chuck out the rest.

One of my favorites, too. Not often I meet people who think that. Glad to have met you. At one point in the early seventies, Mick Jagger said that the band's next album would continue the line of Satanic Majesties. Never happened. Instead, they did stuff such as Exile on Main Street. I lost interest in the band after Brian's death.

actually to me this was the first of their best 3. After this came Beggar's Banquet, then Let it Bleed. This three album period is when they peaked for me. I still think Gimmie Shelter is one of the greatest rock songs ever written.

funny, i feel the same way. i loved that even tho this was a retort to Sgt. Pepper's,the songs are really trippy,the one time the Stones really leaned on the studio and it's affects.I too wish they stayed in this vein for a while longer.I know this is often derided but it's a fun,unpredictable and has a bunch of catchy tunes.and a terrific cover.

When I was living in Atlanta, this one deejay would play this album only around Xmas every year. Never understood why, though. Until I read that it was once supposed to called Cosmic Xmas and that it came out in December of 1967.

wertheriano Just to note, that this was because during the recording sessions, random people would show up because of the different lawsuits the Richards, Jones, and Jagger were attending because of drug use. One day, he walked into the studio, and recorded this song, and later, the rest of the Stones played their parts. The snoring at the end was a prank played by Richards and Jagger on Wyman. He didn’t find out about the snoring until after the release of the album

I think this album is great, with a strange continuity to it that "Sgt. Pepper's could only dream of. The eight straight album set "Aftermath", "Between The Buttons", "Flowers", "Satanic Majesties Request", "Beggar's Banquet", "Let It Bleed", "Sticky Fingers", and "Exile On Main Street", are without parallel, and will never be equalled.

Fantasy rock 'n' roll at its very best... Always loved loved loved this one. Heavenly tune, helps make this album what it is---a tarnished, spotty, romantic masterpiece. Just check out some of the alternate takes of this and other tracks on the lp, with some of the layering removed, and hear how masterful the instrumentation actually was. Some of it got lost in the layers, but somehow shines through just the same, creating a most ethereal atmosphere overall.

Watch 1968s Rock and Roll Circus, listen to the live album from 1969 with Mick Taylor on lead, Get Yer Ya Yas Out and watch 1972's Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones. The Stones were BEST live and the Beatles couldn't or didn't play live but a couple of times after 1966.

between beggars banquet and satanic majesties i could never pick the better album , sooo many of my all time favourite tracks , citadel ,2000 light years ...all the way to stray cat blues , sympathy for the devil and just every track on 'beggars' wherever i go and whatever i do ,i come back to those 2 lps

Many people dismiss this album as just imitating the Beatles, but I feel like when the Stones did that they actually came up with very interesting stuff a lot of the time.
