I had an ablation last week. It's nice to see the details in this VDO. During the operation, I was conscious and could sense how fast my heart was beating at around 200 bpm. The ablation had cut off the short-circuit in my heart. Now, I got new life with normal heart beating. Thanks doctors and amazing technology.

Mine is scheduled. I can't freaking wait. I've been riding my bike with a HR monitor, and I regular see it jump from 120bpm to 170bpm for no reason. And it feels like crap. Glad it worked for you. Hoping it works the same here. I'm too young to be done.

@@SeattleDreams Thanks I'm old.But still very active. Rower, Cyclist, XC skier, Speedskater, Tennis, etc. I had a lot banking on it. Had it last week. So far, night and day difference. They say it takes a couple of months to get the full picture, but so far, it has been an amazing return to normalcy. No flutter. No spikes in the HR. Just what I had been told to expect. Amazing what they can do through a hole the size of a ladybug.

I found my ablasion to be an incredibly stressful experience. Literally 5 minutes before the procedure the surgeon gave me all the statistics of failure and how accidentally damaging the esophagus can be fatal. Although minimal it really messed with my state of mind. Unfortunately my procedure was not successful and I now rely on my trusty meds to keep my Afib under control. I am just too nervous to have the procedure done again. My brother had the procedure done and for him it was successful and life changing.

I have tightness and a lot of pain in my chest and neck my breathing gets disrupted. It basically stops me and I have to lay down a lot of times or I'm headed to the ER because the pain is so great. Thank you so much for posting this video.!!! I was born with a congenital heart defect (DSV). I am 52 years of age and at age 12 I felt my first atrial flutter. As years went by I felt it more and more. And developed into atrial fibrillation. Now it comes all the time as before only once every couple of years. I had a operation at age 4 for the DSV so by the time I was 4 I had an adult size heart. So I knew early on that I would most likely have heart problems as I got older. Well here we are, none of the a-fib meds are working anymore. Quinidine glutconate was the only drug that gave me relief and put my a-fib back to normal rhythm. We’ve (doc and I) talked about cardiac ablation after I had a cardio version two years ago. I am extremely happy to see that a very informational video about the procedure I’m getting ready to do is posted here. Thank you sooooo very much. It ready is a great service you’ve provided. 🥰😍

I have SVT, 6 episodes in 13 months. Happens about every two months, and everyday in between I have constant premature beats, PACS/PVCS, and the feeling I am going to go into SVT again, but this feeling only lasts 1-2 seconds before stopping. It doesn't always stop unfortunately. I have to experience it everyday and it serves as a constant reminder that I am suffering from SVT. I'm 30 years old. Each episode lasts 2-3 hours on average. Heart rate is anywhere in the range of 160-180bpm, feels like my heart is beating out of my chest/throat, lightheaded, dizziness, sweating, feel going to pass out. The first 5 times I didn't go to the ER and converted on my own at home. I guessed something was wrong, but I have been healthy my whole life and never felt the need to go to the hospital. Cardiologists never believed me in the beginning because SVT was never picked up on any of the times I used a holter monitor, or EKGs. The last time I did go to the ER I finally had it all recorded, which was helpful. I was given Adenosine 4 doses, which didn't stop the SVT. Eventually a different medication did, I believe this was Verapamil. I cannot treat this with medication as my resting heart rate is 46-50 BPM on average, so my only option is to live with it, or get ablation. The decision has been left to me, and I have to do is call to schedule my ablation procedure..still undecided how I want to proceed
@rachellydy3367
@rachellydy3367 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jesse, I am in a similar boat as far as what to pursue. I have had SVT since I was a teenager (started 1996). I can get 3 episodes per week, but recently I went 34 entire days without it! It was really amazing. The holter monitor caught mine at 285 beats per minute. I do get very short of breath due to the high rate. It also caught Ventricular tachycardia (but doc said it might be SVT with aberrancy, it is really hard to tell). My resting heart rate is low 60's but metoprolol made me feel badly. Fortunately thus far I have been able to convert on my own. I have gone to the ER before, but was able to convert before I got there.

It's like looking for a needle in a battleship. Just had an ablation 2 days ago, and all is well. The worst part was the chest pain, and I think it was mostly airway pain from the anesthesia. Now is a very steady normal sinus rhythm.

Slight because the anesthesia will not numb the groin entirely. It's more of a discomfort feeling but don't worry. I did the catheter ablation and it's not bad. It's better than a open heart surgery. Enjoy learning while they go through your heart and ablate or excite the heart. I hope I didn't scare you more but made more relax about it. Remember the scare is all in your mind. Hello, Interesting video. I have a question if possible - I had an ablation for atypical AVNRT around 15 years ago (my letters show that it was quite a tricky procedure which took 5 hours and 'ablation of mid septal accessory pathway'. The ablation was successful and I was able to play sports again without any palpitations but recently (as I say 15 years later), I am now having some skipped heartbeats and I have had a few palpitations while exercising... I guess the ablated tissue slightly repaired itself. I want to know, based on your video, are the risks of ablation now lower than they were for me 15 years ago? I did some research myself which suggested that mid septal pathway ablation might have a slightly higher risk of accidental heart block but I want to understand with the technology today if this risk is very minimal or not? thanks

@@shobhitsingh6190 I m 31. As per my research as well RFA is only solution. But, still I would recommend to consult atleast 2-3 cardio doc and reputed one, just show ECG and not what other said. Later show other doc details. Rest my doc said its 95% safe procedure rest 5 they get to know when they are actually detecting that bad signal in heart. I am fine from heart perspective but, pain in leg from where they insert catheter. Not able to walk as of now and doctor is saying it may take another week, little bit swelling as well. They say in 1 day you should be good but, for some people it take 3-4 weeks for leg pain to go away. Irrespective what doc says, ask ur bro to rest post procedure. Good luck for your brother 👍

@@shobhitsingh6190 Also this is done in 3D and 2D mode, if you have insurance or panel, would suggest you to go with 3D only as its much safer. Post procedure doc told me that abnormal HR cause tissue was quite near to my regular one and in 2D there was a chance that could have got damaged and then they will be inserting pacemaker. Prices are almost double for 3D. This video has 3D one only.

Anyone know if this is doctor Desai who works out of Tucson Medical? I had my ablation done 8 days ago and so far everything has been great. I had both AFIB and flutter. My surgery was 3 1/2 hours. The first 3 days I was feeling pretty bad, but it was mostly from the anestetic procedure. I personal was extremely tired, had headaches, chest pain was indigestion type pain, and my blood pressure was high. 7 days after, at my follow up, everything was normal. EKG was fine, headaches gone, still had some indigestion, and blood pressure was slightly high but in my normal range. Really happy with the results so far. I still have bruising but I can see it going away.

@The22on

I weigh the risks before getting this. Right now, I choose to stay on so-so meds (I go in and out of fib) rather than roll the dice that the operation will work. My doc says 70% chance of it working. It's a long operation - 6 hours, he says. I used to work in a doctor's office and saw patients with complications following surgery. They include sore throat and vocal cord injury from the tube down the throat, sudden hearing loss from the general anesthesia, infection, either local at the entry points or systemic from inside. Don't let doctors or friends say it's an easy operation. It has many possible complications. The ones you see on KZbin are the successful ones. My own feeling is not to get surgery until you KNOW you truly need it because life has become really bad from the arrhythmias.

Nate to me, having 3 AFIB episodes in last 3 months, which all required visit to ER and AFIB stopped after 12 hrs of Cardizem, I’m going for RF ablation in 2 weeks to avoid taking blood thinner and flecanaide forever. @@ko6128 Good luck! My surgeon says 6 hours but my internist says patients in her practice say 2 hours is typical. I need to call the surgeon and ask why he must keep me on the table for so long! Please tell me when your surgery is done how long you were anesthetized.
@bisho1p
@bisho1p Жыл бұрын
It’s not a surgery, it’s a procedure. It’s 2 large IVs in your groin that they pass the catheters through up into your heart. In most patients there is no anesthesia or breathing tube, just some light sedation. The procedure usually takes about 2 hours, and most of that time is due to the mapping required. I had mine done wide awake at my own request. I was never in any significant discomfort and only asked for a dose of fentanyl once because they had to do a pretty long burn to eliminate one of my problem areas. It’s not really the procedure people have difficulty tolerating, it’s the having to lay flat for 6 hours due to the groin catheters.
