At 11:20 you mention a compressor increases the dynamic range, but this is contrary to other articles I’ve read online. They all say that compression decreases dynamic range.

25:00 I thought the point of parallel compression was to use it as a send effect and be able to mix an EQed wet signal with the dry signal?

Parallel compression just means mixing a heavily compressed signal with its dry version. You can set it up in different ways like in the way you suggest or the way that's demonstrated in the video. But it's all in essence parallel compression. By doing it on a send you'll get more control over the wet signal so it does make sense to do it that way if you need that extra control

Can I just ask? Why is it when you set the ratio to 2, then the threshold to 0, the compressor still responds? I have found that when the ratio is either set to 4 or 10, this does not happen. Also, does that mean with the glue compressor, that the low ratio is in fact a high one, and the 10 ratio is the same as maybe 2:1 on the normal compressor?

It still compresses the audio because it also changes the knee of the compressor. The 2:1 ratio has a very gentle knee, meaning it will compress the audio way before the threshold even starts.

What I’m confused about is where to use compression. Like do I put on every instrument of the drums so claps, hats, snares, bongos, kick etc etc or do I put on drum bus? Or both?
