Now I can honestly say Ableton is almost the perfect DAW. I think it still needs some basic features which for some reason they choose to ignore, like better routing options, being able to group return tracks - hell, even just being able to move them wherever we want would be great. I see more and more people totally ignoring return tracks and using audio tracks for that instead, so that's it easier to group/move around, or even have it affected by the All X group.

ARA in 11? Why can't there be a 'Mixer' view, as well as the Session view, where you can see all the plugins across all tracks (like all other DAWs)?
@RJ1J4 жыл бұрын
Also, the mixer. If I have 50 tracks, Ableton's workflow breaks down during mixing compared to every other major DAW because I either have to use two monitors and constantly look back and forth plus it's two clicks to edit third party plugins and VSTs. That is a lot of time wasted and annoyance. Given how much Ableton Suite costs next to Logic 10.5, I feel the lack of a standard DAW mixer will hurt them. The UI is still super boring to look and third party themes are great compared to stock, so no effort made there either.

Yeah those ads always show up for me. The idea of MIDI packs can surely be useful for some people. Remember, not everyone has to do things your way to get something out of it. For example, I think some music or styles of music are shit. Sometimes it bothers me that boring and "cheap" music is promoted above more interesting sounds (imo), like a chain store vs. a family business. However, MIDI packs are really great for people who want to enjoy making music without getting too deeply into it. I know I wouldn't be as into music production if I didn't start first with garageband loops.

exciting stuff. wished they would’ve added true mono channels. it’s a hassle putting a utility plugin at the end of the channel strip. great video
@ELPHNT4 жыл бұрын
Ableton channels are in fact mono if the material running through them is mono, they just always display 2 meters. Mono, by definition, is just playing the same signal through both channels,. Technically speaking, 'true mono' means only 1 speaker, so that's not something to do with Live. So whether you're working with an actual mono audio file or a 'stereo' audio file that has the same information in both channels, the results are exactly the same and there's no need to put Utility on a channel to make it mono. Unless of course, you have a stereo source that you're wanting to make mono. I agree it'd be useful to visually see whether a track is outputting in mono or stereo, but as it stands now, that's all it is; a visual difference. Functionally, Ableton's Tracks can be both stereo or mono.
@paulbrymer4 жыл бұрын
@@ELPHNT Ableton has only stereo channels. so when a mono signal is sent to it it becomes dual mono and sends the same mono signal to the left and right speaker. that’s different from mono. the DEFINITION of mono is “one channel”. I always wondered why my vocals never sounded at the center of the mix as they did in protools. dual mono results in a wider sound. the only way to achieve a mono track atm is to put a utility plugin at the end of the channel strip and select left or right channel in the drop down menu. cheers

A year or more ago I had sent a request to Ableton to include that "takes" feature that Logic already has. I guess they got the message! :) Very excited about that...and the comps too.

Seems more like a 10.9 update. Great additions but not entirely worthy of v11.00. Most of these are just QoF features.

Again, Live shows us that just goes beyond our imagination! My fav features are the new fx and the follow action improvement!

I'm very much liking the Follow Action based on clip length. As you say, that opens up a HUGE range of possibilities for generative music. But generally? 12/10

I was stuck between reinstating my pro tools license from 2018 to 2021 or buying ableton live suite. I’m so happy I bought ableton live! Best decision I’ve made in a while.

Honestly, I’m shocked how long it took Ableton to release some of these features. I’m glad they are finally arrived. Great production quality as always, thanks for the content!

Happy about this update! One thing I still like to see in upcoming updates is a vertical faders tab in arrangement view. Or may a thing like cmd-tab which brings you to a whole dedicated mixer view. And then a second controller exactly the size of Push 2 with comprehensive Arrangement (cutting, nudging, combing, scrubbing, extended transport buttons, and the like) and mixing controls.

So many excellent tiny time saving features. I really love the ability to automatically crossfade multiple clips at once, that will pair with the new comping additions beautifully
