In this video Ashton covers step by step how to build a worship keyboard rig that plays in Ableton Live simultaneously with click and backing tracks. This keyboard rig is extremely powerful because well, Ableton is really powerful. Using Sunday Keys as a starting point, you can automate virtually anything about your piano so that any sound changes you want will happen in real time, live with Ableton. It's pretty neat.
Enjoy the video! And smash that like button, or I will have to ground you!

Really enjoyed the video! I've been running my keys setup on Ableton since pretty much the beginning, and it's so nice that there is just so much more power. Additionally, once you start getting into song specific patches for Ableton from places like Multitracks.com, it just blows my mind.

Love this. I've been a fully hardware guy for 25 years at my church. I play keys and guitar. NOW I've purchased live standard, Komplete Kontrol s88 MIDI controller also using plugins for my guitar running through Ableton live. This is so cool and the sounds I build are bigger the my ,Roland fantom G8 and Jupiter 80. Now I'm trying to learn everything you just made this video about, BUT I'm PC no Mac here :( at my church I also only have one output for myself so I have to use Ableton to play guitar and keys at the same time.

I've been following thus channel for a while and it's been helping me out so much! I'm using Ableton for live looping guitars, bass, synthesizer and various other instruments. I'm using my Apollo twin and using my MIDI footswitch for easy accessibility and looping. My question is how can I get the best possible sound when I plug in through my PA? Should I be routing my instruments two different outputs? Should I use multiple computers? Should I get a DIY rig? Should I also be playing with my amps?Got any suggestions here for my output sound?

It sounds good but I’m just worried about it being too difficult for my keys players. MainStage with SundayKeys is already too daunting for most of them.

Is there a way to lay out ALL of the songs your church does in a single project file, set it all up in arrangement view with backing tracks, automation, etc, and THEN set play sections in session view so you could rearrange your setlist on the fly? Maybe even move transitions around and stick them between songs? If that's not ideal/possible, is there a simple way to rearrange a setlist?? Thanks!

Every once in a while, our band gets away from the click and we have to kill the tracks. How would that affect the piano tones? Will it turn them off? Very very cool and informative video

Thanks for all these videos. I'm up in Greeley and have implemented a ton of what you've suggested. One thing I was curious about is, could running the keyboard through Ableton end up accidently triggering other songs that you have setup to midi trigger? or is there an easy way around that?

So my question is, can you use Ableton to run tracks and also the full live band, not just keyboards? Say my guitarist uses amplitube or any software, maybe even process vocals, bass... kind of using the laptop as a backing track setup and mix (just for inears) or is that just to much to ask?

This is probably really far fetched, but…we are running a worship team with me (keys) and some drums. Is it possible for me to run our backing tracks, my keys, and our click all at the same time using ableton? This would mean having to have to separate outputs, one with click and one without click. Is this even possible?

how can you map a sustain pedal in abelton to sustain the sounds
@Ragnak_
@Ragnak_ 2 жыл бұрын
I know that this question is old and Idk if you or anyone else is going to see this but I had this issue where my pedal would not work at all, or at least not in the way that I wanted it to. If you are using a regular pedal for piano and playing live, what you need to do is to make sure that the pedal itself has a switch that can reverse the polarity. I know it sounds weird but the old pedal I had was this small square one that nothing but the pedal itself. I legit spent 2 weeks trying to find an answer and I figured it out from an very old form question.

How do you handle on-the-fly changes (ie. we're going to repeat the bridge an extra time, just signalled by the worship leader on stage) and pre/post-worship transitions where you're playing behind someone speaking? While Ableton is extremely capable, my concern with this much automation is that it's hard to deviate too much from what has been set up.
@stickzmusic_3131
@stickzmusic_3131 4 жыл бұрын
If a team is running tracks, most like the singers will also be using in ear monitors and the worship leader and any speakers will know that they wont deviate from its format
@philschalm7808
@philschalm7808 4 жыл бұрын
@@stickzmusic_3131 We don't run tracks, so I'm curious if you could use a similar setup still within Ableton or if you'd be better off looking at something else that's less tied to a linear playback style (we're currently using Mainstage, but it would be nice to automate some transitions, etc).

for on the fly repeats & such, it’s a good idea to have a separate midi controller to cue up the desired section in the song. that way you can jump to a section and still have your sounds in real time. hope this helps!

Great video man. Suggestion for newbies ... slow down. Show how to midi map sounds to controls, how your cable I/O connect to your audio interface. A fast as someone is exposed to these things is as fast as they'll lose it. Yeah .. you're showing step by step ... at the speed of light. Doesn't help anyone.
