This week I put a track together from scratch on the Push 3 in standalone and share some thoughts on how it’s improved since launch. Loading samples for drum racks is especially improved, I hope you enjoy this process and have a wonderful new year!

Hey Dylan, I was thinking of you tonight and wanted to send a thought your way; I’ll be here for 2024 following your progression as a creative as you precise your brand more and more. What you present on here as a person is a worthwhile narrative imo and I’m the pickiest over that. I’m invested in your stuff and am rooting for you, I’m always waiting for those weekend posts! ❤

I’ve seen a lot of people talking about updates that would be great and “for now it can’t blank” on every video. Has the push 3 actually gotten any firmware updates?? I’ve heard nothing.

I made one about live 12 on the push 3 last week but there's not been a ton of changes yet as far as I can tell.

Btw, have you tried to plug this thing into an external audio interface via USB? I did that with my MPC One and Maudio AIR 192, its a world of diff. The DACs and preamps that come with most digital synth are not that great.
@DylanParisMusic
@DylanParisMusic 6 ай бұрын
The push doesn’t support external usb interfaces right now, the internal interface has been fine for me, but for pro studio setups you can also plug into a studio interface using ADAT

The ui looks really sweet. Very next gen/futuristic looking. For the price tho, abelton not giving the full version is kind of asinine. That’s like akai giving you mpc beats (free) for the live/force. Kind of weird they did that.

Force doesn‘t come with all MPC plugins/instrument, you might even pay more in the end. Actually a normal license would be nice for the standalone.

how you like the standalone workflow between this, the Force, MPC One and NI M+?

This is a good video topic! Will make something on this soon! (Spoiler, this one would be my favorite if price isn’t a concern except for a few annoying issues)

@@DylanParisMusicreally keen to hear your take on this - it’s clear the next gen of standalone grooveboxes are going to be beasts, but while we’re in this transitional stage, it’s fascinating to assess where things are and where they’re headed.

Looks very sleek but don't most things take more steps than the Force? For me how fast I can access sounds or features is pretty important.
@DylanParisMusic
@DylanParisMusic 6 ай бұрын
I’ve personally had no issue getting to most things quickly except when browsing large lists of sounds and presets, but there are faster ways to get to those presets either via packs or the instruments they’re made from folder wise I’d say overall efficiency of UI is pretty similar with a few points going to the force for more dedicated buttons per function and a touch screen with quick macros

I want to create a kit that would allow me to jam solo by creating heavily affected drums and bass with something like the push 3 standalone, paired with a synthesizer like the sequential pro 3. In my own lack of knowledge i’m kind of imagining with a lot of practice you could play “instruments” like this in an improvised way to create live music in front of a crowd… do you think this is achievable with this device as an option?

Thanks man! No need to apologize ever for a sincere question and thanks for the kind words! I think the push 3 would be one of the best options on the market for this! Lots of artists have used push 1 and push 2 with laptop for this sort of work for years

@zaksavage9658 for sure! It seems like a home run for TE besides a few broken fader knobs! It’s a bit too limited for my tastes but I’m very glad they made it and I hope they make more affordable stuff in the future too!

That's 100% possible. I'm using Push 3 as the brain for all drums, Midi sequencing, mixer, few effects and as 3 Instruments. My Reverb and Delay Pedal directly goes into the send&return channel to save CPU. The Push 3 interface is connected via ADAT into my rack for subsequent 37 as lead, Juno for Pads and Minilogue XD for fx or ARPs. The best thing - I can prepare everything on my PC and send it to Push + its the same workflow I already learned by using Push 2. I just scratched the surface, with max4live devices the possibilities are endless. For me Push3 Standalone is the all in one devices which I wanted for ages (coming from Elektron and Akai). I'm hoping for a better CPU and battery in the future, glad it's modular.

Havent really seen anything about Push 3 standalone ceiling. its got a much bigger brain than my beloved Force but I am certainly curious. Im old guy used to tape so unlikely to ever hit its ceiling but still would like to know. I mean like 16 tracks for a song is ALOT for ME. I could see Live preformers with whole set worth of songs hitting ceiling but not me. Hope you know, thanks man. Intel leaving the NUC market also makes me wonder if Ableton’s idea of new replacement NUC every few years is still viable too. I’ve heard ASUS taking over that space so MAYBE!

Sitting here like: ARM THE TRACK, ARM THE F'IN TRACK!!! xD Tbh...I had the same issue with recording automation at 1st, and I don't know why you would need to arm the track. But that's how it is at the moment.

Questions: is there a good sequencer and song mode on this? Can you record vocal tracks - is there a dedicated vocal track? Any effects catered to vocals like the live 2?
@DylanParisMusic
@DylanParisMusic 6 ай бұрын
The sequencers are definitely powerful and solid, there’s no song mode on the standalone which is the biggest flaw. There are a tone of on board fx and I think audio tracks are only limited by the processor not an arbitrary limit so you could have a ton of recorded audio compared to the force or MPC but there is no pitch correction or harmonizer tools like the force and MPC have
@MyNameJeff..
@MyNameJeff.. 6 ай бұрын
@@DylanParisMusic Thank you, bro. Hopefully they add a song mode in a further update. The push looks dope. I wonder if there will ever be that near perfect standalone that has all the best features from the major standalone’s… A man can dream.
@DylanParisMusic
@DylanParisMusic 6 ай бұрын
@MyNameJeff.. agreed! Yeah a built in pitch correction and harmony effect would be great for standalone and software Ableton live. And the arranger is frustrating cause it exists in software you just can’t access it on push

It does! However if you leave it unplugged for a a few weeks even powered off it can lose a fair bit of charge. It was at around 40 percent when I turned it on so I plugged it in so it could charge while I was filming
