leave it to slynk to constantly remind me how little I know about my DAW! lol, sick video, gave me some great ideas!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments! Some of you have pointed out that the microphone audio is too quiet or needs to be de-essed. I've been working towards a solution for this. Next video I'll be recording 1440p @ 60fps with dual audio channels so I can edit the microphone audio and the Ableton audio independently. Stay tuned & please subscribe for my next video :)

+yogibear2k10 in my opinion, having a midi keyboard is absolutely essential for music production in Ableton or any other Digital Audio Workstation. They are cheap and save you a lot of time.
@Slynk7 жыл бұрын
+yogibear2k10 the pads thingy is called an Ableton Push 2. It's a specially designed all purpose midi controller that integrates with Ableton seamlessly. It's very nice if you come from a background of using MPCs or you hate using a computer keyboard and mouse and like to get more hands on with music. It's flashy, convenient and expensive as fuck. You will be 100% fully capable of writing great music without it. But they are pretty fkn cool.
@Slynk7 жыл бұрын
+yogibear2k10 by the way, the midi keyboard I use is the Korg Microkey. It was like $150.

yogibear2k10 Here’s two other cheaper recommendations for MIDI, if your still looking. It depends what you’re going for, but at the very least semi weighted keys are quite nice, that’s what I prefer.. here’s the links for further exploration: www.amazon.com/Nektar-Impact-GX49-Controller-Keyboard/dp/B01EN0G8AI/ref=pd_sbs_267_3?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=FMJ6DR4AB1WJCNE6J9KB www.guitarcenter.com/Used/Casio/M-Audio-61es-Keyboard-Workstation.gc?cntry=us&source=4WWRWXGP&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyZLSBRDpARIsAH66VQJdEzboMpAkJxe65gZMc0ep6D4ctij0CDGMNtcjirQplQdWPFz0TUMaAkJIEALw_wcB&kwid=productads-adid%5E70424644722-device%5Ec-plaid%5E359652453265-sku%5E113783744@ADL4GC-adType%5EPLA

yogibear2k10 late reply but check out www.akaipro.com/products/keyboard-controllers/mpk-mini-mkii At $99 It's one of the most affordable midi controller out there. It's super compact. Has piano keys and 8 drum pads. All customizable. Comes with it own extra software too. Any DAW u decide on will work with it. Save ur money and time focusing on making beats. This and a laptop is pretty much all I need.

So glad I found your channel mate. You explain everything in a “down to Earth” manner, like you speak to us like we are normal people unlike a lot of DAW tutorial video uploads where the people “teaching” seem to speak down to the viewers as if they know they’re better at using the software than than the viewers and it can be really annoying and off-putting. Not you though sir. I love your videos and have watched most many times. I’ve defo learned a lot about Ableton I’d still be unaware of now if I hadn’t found your channel. Big thanks mate. Respect ✊

Excellent channel. I am on my second video in a row, and already can say that you have sick pedagogic abilities man. In a world where making a tutorial always implies to assume that is for rookies, you explain clearly without losing time on assuming you speak to such unexperienced folks.

Thank you SO MUCH for your channel. I'm going to Portland Community College, learning the basics of Ableton and the Push 2. I'm more familiar with Logic Pro X and Analog Synthesis, so the way you break everything down is perfect. I feel so bad for asking such convoluted questions in a classroom setting, so hearing the full extent is a blessing. Godspeed, sir!

If you like that sine-wave craziness, you should check out Mick Gordon's lecture on how he made the Doom 2016 OST. The signature bass sound of his is a sine wave, and he uses sidechaining feedback as a way to generate a call/response with the huge bass!

Nice work and beat brother, do you or anyone know how to set a cutoff point on a sample in Simpler, for example I have a loop playing and cutting of samples once others are triggered nicely, but the problem is the last sample note played in the midi box carries on playing after the note drawn in and after the midi box, I know I can do this by setting the whole sample to Gate and then adjusting the sample to the right size, but was hoping there was a more simple way, like in my Mpc for example, Thank in advance 🙌🏼
