Active Brake Limited Slip Test offroad. Sorry for the direction the video was taken. I was the one driving not filming.

I saw your ABLS explanation video and this demo shows how well you know the system. I have seen many others who either brake or throttle really too high and say the system does not work. Well it does and it does it exceptionally well

Sweet. That was a huge rut too

Can you share more info on the ABLS reaction time? I've watched tons of videos on R51 and only in this one I see it reacting so fast.

Check out my other videos rock crawling, ABLS reaction instantly in low-range. Also look at my new video with tips on how to drive with ABLS.

Great video, shows everything perfectly. No need for cinematics here 😜 Thanks a lot.

Bo_Hazem yeah the system is actually pretty clever. I works really well on uneven terrain and trail driving, even with opposite wheels in the air. However it's not so great in a locker type situations like deep soft sand and rock gardens with large rocks. Also forward progress needs to be maintained for the computer to figure out the obstacle. If you brake mid obstacle the ABLS resets and has to start over, I am going to make a video about this. You can lift off the to throttle and the system remains active you just can't hit the brakes.

Thanks a lot for the details. I have rear diff locks as my patrol has 2 solid axles, might go for frontal diff lock as well later and take off the ABS fuse when offroading. But for the meanwhile it seems like a good thing to have if you get stuck.

I would keep the system available as it works well when you need the rear locked can't lock the front do maneuverability reason. Better than blowing up a pinion or axle shaft when you're full steering lock.

Yup, but Patrols can take intense abuse that's nearly incomparable to other cars on the market. You may search for "Aussie Four Wheelers" and you'll see how much stress they can take with no to minimal problems. You'll only need front lockers when rock climbing and such or when stuck, other than that the ABLS (used to be called Intelligent ABS since 1997 on Patrols) and the rear factory locker will do the trick safely.

Yeah you're lucky you get those in your country. Back in the U.S. of Lame we just have the crappy Jeeps. Everything else died when they converted them to mall cruisers. My R51 is the last truck based pathfinder built that can off road.
