Hi I have been bleeding for 2 months now after stopping the birth control injection almost 2 years now. It have been like this ever since in and out. What can I do to have my normal period back?
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
@@feronachapman9569 Hi, thanks for your question. To be very clear - you've used the injection for 2 years, and then stopped taking it 2 months (8 weeks) ago - do I have that correct? I'm sorry you are struggling with your cycle getting back to normal. In these cases, we would usually first check the bleeding is not happening as a result of problems like an infection or other cause of irregular vaginal bleeding so it's important you speak to your doctor so tests like vaginal swabs can be checked or your cervical screening status looked at. If all that is clear then we can focus on the effect of the injection hormone. Firstly, as you may be aware it's not unusual for the injection method to cause disruption to the menstrual periods. This can happen both while you are taking it and for some time afterwards. It can take about 3-4 months for the effects of the hormone to completely leave your system after you have stopped taking it. I suspect this may be why your cycle has not yet returned to normal. You can give it a few more weeks to allow it to settle down. Alternatively, if you are getting very heavy or disruptive bleeding that interferes with your activities, you can speak to your doctor about medicine to lessen the bleeding for a short while (if that is appropriate for you) as you wait for things to return to normal. Best Wishes.

@@zaharamitchell1743 Hi - it's pretty much the same advice. You can change Lindynette to another low dose pill but you may get the same side effects. Stopping the pill may place you at risk of unwanted pregnancy. The fact is that most ladies will experience irregular bleeding for the first 3 months as a pill side effect. Yes, we do want you to check in with your doctor if the bleeding is severe, painful or happens after sex, but mostly it's the pill effect and should settle. If you are thinking of changing/stopping do consider the alternatives/implication. You can schedule a chat to discuss this further using the link on our website, thanks

Will the 3 months getting used to the birth control pill shorten with the implant? can it only last 1 month? As a result, I bled with implants for 2 months. If not, will it last for 3 months?
@AskAwayHealth2 жыл бұрын
Hello, sorry 🙁to hear you are struggling with irregular bleeding after the implant. It can sometimes happen and one treatment is using a combined pill to make the bleeding pattern a bit regular and less heavy. Most times the combined pill should do this within the first 1-2 months, so I hope you will get some relief pretty soon. Best wishes
@NatashaBorgorez3 жыл бұрын
Hello! Thank you for the video, it was very informative. I take combined pills that contain 30 mg ethinylestradiol and 150 mg levonorgestrel. I haven't had a 7-day break and now I've had constant bleeding for 2 months. Is it okay or do I definitely have to have a 7-day break? And what do I do if I continuously take it?
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hi Natalie, thank you for watching and your question. Taking the combined pill without the standard 7 day break after 21 days is one of the 'new' regimes that are thought could help reduce irregular bleeding. But taking the pills that way can have unpredictable bleeding patterns. The studies suggest that breakthrough bleeding when you are using this method (without the 7 day break) can be heavy initially but later reduces over time. If the constant bleeding does not bother you - you can continue for another month to see if the bleeding settles. Or you may carry on for another one week, then take a 1 week break. This is called the extended cycle regimen (9 weeks of the pill then 1 week break). Third, using it continuously for 6 months or longer is possible, and the research suggests no adverse effects. The recommendations when you do so include - monitoring any new symptoms - like Headaches, check blood pressure, weight, checking for breast lumps and other safety checks etc. It's good to speak about this at length with your own practitioner who knows your medical background - or you can have a one to one chat with me - link here: bit.ly/AskawayhealthAppointments Best Wishes

What do I do? I don’t really understand as I haven’t missed any pills. What do I do?
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hello @TashThaispice thank you for your question. Irregular bleeding on the pill is a recognised side effect of the mini pill; regardless it’s important to check for other reasons when there is a sudden change like this. I think you should see your GP/Family Dr/Gynaecologist to get more details/examine/ run some tests. Pregnancy and a sexually transmitted infections, we know; are common reasons for sudden changes in menstrual pattern whilst on contraception. They will look into this as well as your cervical screening status and could decide on other exam or tests. If there is no abnormality then it will most likely be the pill effect and if the bleeding pattern doesn’t settle, you could look at alternatives. But for now, please see your Dr to look into further details we are not able to explore here. If you wished, you could send an email on info@askawayhealth.org to chat more. Best wishes!

Hi ladymeow01 (what a fun name😀!) Thanks for watching and writing in - I’m so sorry to hear your bleeding problems with the pill - sadly one of the well known side effects. I hope it’s not left you feeling too ill? Could you tell me which pill it is causing the problem? In this answer, I’ll assume it’s the combined pill - Thankfully there are options. Once we’re sure it’s not related to any other problem, we do know that some of the pill side effects *may* settle after 3-4 months though it’s not guaranteed. 1. You can speak to your Dr about an alternative pill. Sometimes taking one with less hormone gives lower side effects and still does the job. 2. It’s possible to take the pill back to back for 2-3 months at a time which may reduce the bleeding so that in 12 weeks there is only one opportunity to bleed. And the body’s response may be a less heavy bleed by then as it’s become used to the pill effect. 3. Of course you can look at a totally different method - the major risk would be if you continued to have very heavy bleeding causing anaemia, but you are unlikely to be having any more damage to your organs than the next lady taking the pill and not experiencing such heavy bleeding. So these are just a few options, do let me know what you think. Cheers

My first months off the pill, i had an actual period which has continuous flow with slight PMS, now I am on my 2nd month off the pill and I am only having brown spotting my 3 days now. I am confused if I could be pregnant or is it just a possible side effect of getting off the pill. Pls help me.
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hi Magsx, when you are taking the pill, your natural hormones are temporarily switched off. As soon as you stop the pill, your natural hormones start working again, but it may take a few weeks to get back into a regular bleeding pattern. So yes, you may be having pill side effects on your bleeding pattern. If you’ve had sex without protection, pregnancy is possible. You should do a pregnancy test if that’s the case, and if negative, continue watching your flow for another 2-3 weeks and see your doctor if it’s still irregular or you are feeling unwell. All the best

Hi! It's been 1 month since I stopped my pills and got my normal period today, however the bleeding is quite heavy and with painful cramps, is this normal?
@AskAwayHealth2 жыл бұрын
Hi Abbey, if you've had unprotected sex at any time since stopping the pill, then please do a pregnancy test. Sometimes bleeding can be heavy after coming off the pill (don't forget one of the pill effects while you are taking it is to lighten the period - especially the combined pill). Therefore it is not unusual that your first natural period after the pill can be a little heavier than usual. But don't assume - first check you are not pregnant. If the test is negative, then the question is _*how heavy is the bleeding and how bad is the pain?*_. Since I cannot access this on the youtube platform, you must speak to your doctor especially if you feel unwell with it. (Large blood clots or flooding/gushing blood/changing pads every hour suggest very heavy bleeding) Best Wishes

Hi, do you mean the everyday pill or the emergency pill? Sometimes you could have something that looks like a period while pregnant, so have you done a pregnancy test? @AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hello Syra, it is not very predictable as the Ipill can affect women differently. We know that it can cause bleeding that is unrelated to the periods but it can also delay the period/ or make it come earlier. Etosys can be useful: though I don’t know how many days you’ve taken it. It’s also important that your doctor checks you don’t have a sexually transmitted infection that is causing the bleeding to be prolonged as could happen in some cases. If you are clear, please give it some more time as it should settle down. Best wishes

Hope you can read my comment . I stopped taking the pills for 3 mos.suring the first month i had twice menstrual flow , now on the 3rd month i am having a longer period..is this normal?
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hello Arlyn, thanks for your question. Some women do experience a change to their menstrual pattern after coming off the pill. Sometimes it takes a number of weeks for the effect of the pill to exit the body. Other times it may be a delay in the natural hormones resuming a regular cycle. The time may be different from one woman to another, but generally it may be a few weeks or months to resume a ‘normal’ cycle. Some ladies may find they do not return to the same cycle they had before the pill. So while it is possible you are getting effects from stopping the pill, it’s a good idea to speak to a doctor to be sure there’s nothing else causing problems. As an initial check, you could reach us on info@askawayhealth.org where we can ask focussed questions to clarify details about your history to guide you better. Best wishes.

Hello Kumari, I'm sorry to hear of this problem. Cyprokare for treating PCOS is meant to help with some symptoms of PCOS like acne, excessive hair or irregular periods. The most common side effects are nausea, stomach pain, increased weight, headache, altered mood, and breast pain; so you should speak with the clinician who is treating you to discuss the side effects. They can also recommend alternative treatments based on your own medical history and which PCOS symptoms are most troublesome to you. Best wishes

Thank you very much Dr Sylvia. Will one be save from pregnancy after taking the contraceptive pill for just the first day of unprotected sex ? Or is it advisable to take more than one pill every day for about 5days when one had sex just for a day?....
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hi It’s best to take the emergency pill just as directed on the pack. This is ➡️➡️as soon as possible after Sex. It is most effective when you’ve taken it before you ovulate, but may work after as well. The recommendation is only have one emergency pill per month otherwise it can make your periods irregular if taken often. (This means that if you have sex again the next day or day after - yes, you CAN use the emergency pill, it will not harm you but your periods can be affected so we usually do not recommend you take it like that). If you took it properly after one episode of Sex, it should work, and you don’t need to another the next day. Now, if you choose to have sex often and are very worried about avoiding pregnancy, consider a regular contraception method like the combined pill, mini pill,coil, injection or implant etc. This reduces your worry about if the emergency pill works or not. Cheers!

Hello Sana Sometimes you can have some irregular bleeding after you stop your pill. I don’t know if you are on your pill free break or have stopped Yasmin completely; but unless the bleeding is very heavy (soaking your pad or tampon); or it is painful then you may need to wait a couple of weeks to see if the bleeding stops by itself. If not, please see your health provider to make sure there is no infection or other cause. Thanks

So, I tried the pill 13 days ago and I am waiting for my period in 7 days and yesterday I had blood and there is a little dark brown stain appears on my sanitary napkin but on the toilet paper there is enough blood but not too much and it's not too light pink and not too dark pink.. it's salmon color with a bit salmon mucus.. and today I have light red blood and is a bit transparent on the toilet paper and i have more mucus that is dark red and yesterday the pain was a little bit intense than today but no much pain and today i have less pain and all this blood isn't heavy and i don't feel something heavy and a few days before my bleeding i had pain on my 2 chests when i touched them until now but a few days before my bleeding i had more intense pain on my chests and now i have less pain on my chests and do you know what all that means?
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hi thanks for writing in from Greece, glad you liked the video. The pill can make your period come in early or later than usual. But in addition, you could have bleeding as a separate effect of the pill - this may be what you are getting and we cannot always tell the difference between the pill effect and an early period. Please watch this video to learn more - kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6bVc5ltjZp2e80 . Also we advise you check a pregnancy test 2-3 weeks after sex. If you are getting pain in the chest/ abdomen, do please see a doctor to examine you. Best Wishes.

Hi Maude, thanks for watching the video. Visanne is used in endometriosis to help with painful (and sometimes heavy) periods. The Visanne pill can affect ovulation while you are taking it and for up to 2 months after you stop - then your ovulation returns. I started spotting on 14th day after my periods I thought it was ovulation buh the bleeding is increasing day by day and am not pregnant either,,, what could be the cause of it?
@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hello Felister, are you still taking Dronis while the bleeding is going on or did you stop? You would not expect to get bleeding around your ovulation so I can only consider that you may have stopped the pill. Also are you sexually active or have you used any other type of hormonal pill like emergency contraception as well? Another possibility is an STI if you are sexually active. Otherwise, if the bleeding is getting heavier, see your health provider to look at an exa mination and further tests. Best wishes.

@AskAwayHealth3 жыл бұрын
Hello Sheila, thanks for watching! I hope you've been coping with the symptoms. It's likely your ObGyn has placed you on the combined pill (Yaz) to help control heavy or frequent bleeding - and make it less heavy if those were some of the problems you experienced. If you've taken the pill from month 1-3 without a break until now then it's not unusual to have a withdrawal bleed for some days that is light, but it will stop. So this is expected and if the pill is comtrolling the symptoms and not causing any other trouble, then please continue your Dr's recommendation. Always let them know, though if anything changes, or if the bleeding is taking longer than 7-10 days. Best wishes.

Hello Ilaria, thanks for watching! This is a pill side effect that can be quite common for some ladies as their bodies adjust to the hormones in the pill. And your Dr is right, as long as there is no suspicion of infection we do recommend waiting up to 3 cycles/months for things to settle down unless you feel it’s totally unbearable. In many ladies who experience this, the spotting does settle down.
