Really enjoyed this one! Your channel is a very unique pairing of ship:cruise knowledge and figure skating! It’s such a cool combo. Love learning about both subjects.

Thanks so much for explaining dry dock and what you are doing on the ship during this time. I like that they have separated the contractors and are keeping them away from the crew. You have all worked hard to keep yourselves in that protective bubble. Enjoy your dry dock and the return trip to America.

yes it was very smart to keep us separated! thanks for the message :)

Yay! Made it in time! Lol. Hope you're well 💖💖🏴 Ps. I think crew should get free WiFi all the time! Seems insane to me to charge crew away from home for nearly a year for their WiFi. Costs them nothing at the end of the day 🤷🏼♀️💖

Thanks for the info. We have cruised for 20 years, and have never gotten info like yours on dry dock. Good that you are still being paid. Although the cost of flying everyone home and then flying them back again, plus risk of covid.... makes sense.

I believe they use bracing to stabilize the ship in dry dock. And support the weight of ship, since the ship is not met to support its full weight on dry land

I love watching your videos. I used to work in a shipyard building ships your cut outs were perfect when you were trying to explain dry dock. They have huge pumps that pump the water out or in to the dry dock. Pretty cool to watch as well. I think I read that, like cars, ships need to pass inspections where they are deemed seaworthy since they will be in open sea with paying guests. They look for cracks in the seams as well as looking at all the propellers every 3-5 years. Thanks for sharing. Quick question when they do transatlantic with paying guests do they move the clocks each night or do you just get 6 hours extra at the end of the crossing?
@jbauth2 жыл бұрын
thanks 🤗 and they move the clocks as the cruise goes on! so 1 hour a night :)

Are you getting sad that your contract is almost over? Is it hard when the end comes, or do you look forward to taking a break? Will you already have a new contract lined up for afterwards or do you have to wait to sign up after you're home? For the next Q&A I presume it hurts a lot to fall from a jump. The last ice show we saw two cast members fell during the jumps it looked mighty sore. How do you deal with the bruises are you allowed to skip a show if you fall awkwardly?

Jordan, I have NEVER skated in my life. I would love to try. I sail on Oasis in December. If I went to Free skate would one of the performers help me or am I on my own? Obviously, I don't want to hurt myself or someone else. I can take it if your best advice is better not to try it on a ship.
@jbauth2 жыл бұрын
you should try!! Unfortunately there isn’t help provided on the open all skate sessions, but you can buy private lessons!
@John_Be2 жыл бұрын
@@jbauth I appreciate the advice. I will do what you say, and not do it. I don't really like hurting myself anyway. Leaving it to the pro's sounds smarter. I'm glad I asked you. Thank you!

IMO crew should use guest areas alllllll the time. IMO this rule is "out dated". As a cruiser i see NO difference in crew n cruisers. yes one works for the other but...i mean we have a lady who helps me clean and we have tea together when she takes her breaks we fully enjoy our conversations and fully enjoy relaxing together. As a cruiser ...we cruise Disney ...my daughter was 9 on this particulat cruise ...she kept asking our wait staff when they were going to sit down n eat w us 😀. ...seriously... how interesting would it be if the cruise assigned different crew to eat w us...we were assigned another cruising family from Japan who had an only child😀 our daughters age and that was delightful ...both girls ....and honestly us parents would have enjoyed having a crew member join us...what interesting fun conversations we could have had...i mean our daughters could have learned more about life on a ship and we could have help the crew member feel part of family meals 😀 WIN WIN. i realize not ALL cruisers feel this way but i wonder if others do? and not all crew may want to eat w cruisers... they might need a complete break from the cruisers but i wonder if they sometimes would enjoy a meal w a family? ...seems like it could be something we could BOTH have the option of signing up for??? any thoughts u have i am interested.

You still can upload the showcase if you don't perform it!!! And i think i know why France ; Brittany (St Nazaire isn't far) is a peninsula with a perfect roadstead, close to historical trades routes - UK won Napoleon's war so it's not just history, they save tons of fuel. Also most countries don't have the civilian equipment for it, Brest is some kind of Fort Lauderdale without the sun and tourists, and, to my knowledge, i can just think about France, Norway and South Korea when i think about very big shipyard
