2:57 actually, the Hanyang 88 rifle was produced from 1895 to 1944, but China had switched up some of it's production to the Type 24 Generalissimo rifle in 1935 already, so it's very not accurate.

Quite surprised you didn't try to get artillery earlier! You don't even need to equip all div, just make a template for 12div and use them as tank doing spearhead attack (as they will do more damage than your ww1 gun infantry only div)

Especially as China or Soviet, you can do what you did : create space in your own territory and then take the ports (logistic point for sov) and encircle divisions with no supply until you defeat them 6 arti div could take the ports then wipe the divisions !

Still, for a 1939 start, Japan doesn't seem to be that much technically advanced compared to you! When you show combat, they don't have great offense stats too!

What are some tips regarding fighting the Soviets as China? I have a very hard time pushing into their territory, even with 100% collab on both Mongolia and Soviets, its a very hard slog for me. What are your ideal division templates for fighting in the Mongol steppes and Siberia, and how do you keep them supplied?

If you get to dealing with the Soviets as China you probably have dealt with Japan and somewhat united your country so your industry should be able to handle some supply hubs, also just add on logistics companies to every division if you must and be sure to motorise your supply hubs it’s the cheapest way to extent your supply line by a lot. Usually my ideal division is just a 27 width with 9 infantry 3 artillery, idk if it’s the most mid maxed but it definitely works. Also throw in CAS, if you have enough CAS everything else kinda stops mattering tbh.When fighting majors so long as you encircle and destroy it will get easier and easier. Do bear in mind that the Soviet Union I fought in this video was a 1939 Soviet Union (weaker than 36 I think) which were on the verge of surrender from Barbarossa anyway.

Can answer the title's question without watching the video. It's a Paradox game, so yes. Worse AI in the gaming community, with any game, and no improvements have ever been made. Paradox just adds more sliders and buttons to each game in a series to make it seem like it gets harder. Watched a KZbinr play Hearts of Iron 4 for the first time with no knowledge of WW2 and after making every mistake you can think of, he still won easily. edit: great video.
