Good post - I'd never heard of that Czech author before, so thanks for that. I think for some authors, World War II had such a massive impact that it coloured literally everything they wrote. Not sure when was alive, but I would also have bought the book based on its cover! For something different, why not try Joe Haldeman's "Mindbridge"? Less famous than his Forever War series, but what a book it is! Edit - meant to say, not glancing offscreen at notes is brilliant. Another poster mentioned it, and it can be really distracting. Well done on not doing it!

Thanks for watching and commenting, I appreciate the feedback. I am currently reading Joe Haldeman's The Forever War and really enjoying it. The next video will be about military science fiction books and will be a bit longer. Hope you stick around for that one!

I've only read short stories from Piers so far. I'm going to be reading Macroscope as some point. I was reading that he was writing both SF and fantasy but his fantasy became more popular, especially his Xanth series so he leaned into fantasy later in his career. I like that you are reading super obscure authors as well with Nesvadba. Keep up the good work on the channel.

Thanks for that, I think it's good to mix in a little obscurity with the more widely known works to build up a broad spectrum of knowledge - which is exactly what you do!

Again well done. It's really good that you do your reviews straight to camera - sometimes I watch other similar content where - although the reviews may seem 'more polished' - the host is looking slightly off to the side and reading out from their prepared book summary. Knowing the material and giving your thoughts directly to camera has - to me a least - much more impact and is more engaging for the viewer.

For better or worse I prefer to just turn the camera on and freestyle a little bit. I have set things I want to say and sometimes I don't get all of that out so maybe there is a middle ground to hit somewhere... thanks for the feedback once again.

@@SciFiFinds Sticky notes around your monitor with 2 or 3 bullet points for each book can help 🙂

@@daveac My house will begin to look like the home of a madman with incoherent ramblings about abominable snowmen and alien flowers plastered all over the walls. I will try this for the next one

I agree with Dave, it's very natural watching your videos. Good job.

Have you read The Martian Chronicles or The Illustrated Man by Bradbury? Both are short story collections - which I think for Bradbury's style is better than his long form.

Not yet. I have an Alfred Bester one coming up on my TBR soon so we'll see how I get on with that

I'd agree with you on that. First two Bradbury books I ever bought (with money from my first job!) were a two volume collected short story set. I'd never read anything quite like it before.
