Unmentionable was probably my favorite NF book in November. I managed to read 4 and checked off the prompts. Catch and Kill is so good. I listened to the audio and Ronan Farrow did amazing work.

Really enjoyed Nonfiction November! I read a "Who was?" book about Georgia O'Keeffe, Three Martini Afternoons at the Ritz, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, and most of Red Comet: The Short Life and Blazing Art of Sylvia Plath. Looking forward to next NN and already assembling a tidy stack in my mind's eye.

I made it a goal to read 12 nonfiction books this year. Because of Nonfiction November, I read 16. I know I can do better next year thanks to the huge TBR of nonfiction books I can’t wait to tackle. I think my sophomore nonfiction November will be even better.

I read 18 non fiction and finished off one fiction book in November. That's a lot of books for me to do in a month, but I read so many great books that I flew through them. Tiny Beautiful Things Cheryl Strayed, The Rural Diaries Hilarie Burton Morgan and Diary of a Bookseller Shaun Bythell were my favourites. I also ordered I'll be there for you on your recommendation.

Part of the fun of Non-fiction November is reading the many comments to your videos. Many of them contain titles of books for possible future reads. I didn’t read any books in response to the “element” prompt, however of those which I did read, they could often be categorized under multiple prompts. Secret: “Madame Fourcade’s Secret War” by Lynn Olson Borders/Secrets/Record: Last Call At the Hotel Imperial- the Reporters Who Took On The World at War by Debra Cohen Secret/Record: The Breach by Denver Riggleman Record: The Professor and the Madman by Simon Winchester Thanks for all the work you do encouraging everyone to explore non-fiction. Yes, it’s a cliche but the sentiment is valid - Truth is stranger than fiction.

I really enjoyed Non-fiction November. I read seven physical non-fiction books and listened to a short audio book. And of course I squeezed in some fiction, too. The topics ranged from the Roman Empire's trade with the countries around the Indian Ocean to essay collections by James Baldwin and a book about mushrooms (Entangled Life). I really like reading non-fiction and it was good to get a month more or less devoted to non-fiction.

This is the first year I participated in non-fiction November, using the prompts from Olive. For record: The Emperor of Scent, by Chandler Burr. It is about setting the record straight about how the nose recognizes scents; For element: I read Black Diamonds: The Downfall of an Aristocratic Dynasty and the Fifty Years that Changed England by Catherine Bailey; For secret: I read Hidden Valley Road: Inside the Mind of an American Family by Robert Kolker; and finally For border: I am reading The Basque History of the World: The Story of a Nation by Mark Kurlansky. It was a challenge and delight to search for titles that would fit the prompts that were set. Thanks Olive!

During Christmas you're going to be a walking/talking Encyclopedia about all the movie/tv show non-fiction books you read. I only managed to read 2 nonfiction books but both were history books that I really wanted to get to. One was all about the Halifax Explosion of 1917 and the other Black Tudors looked at the history of Africans living in England during the Tudor era, very interesting look at that era and would highly recommend for anyone interested in the Tudors.

I actually read three and started a fourth. Which, for me is huge. I read Are Prisons Obsolete? by Angela Y. Davis, which was excellent, and I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy. I also count The Heartstopper Yearbook since it’s about Heartstopper rather than being part of the story, even though their are a couple of single page comics in it. A great palette cleanser.

One audio book narrated by it's author that is particularly good is A Most Remarkable Creature by Jonathan Meiburg. His main career is as a singer in a band so his voice is very good, he understands performance, and he even does a sound effect or two. He spent something like 10 years working on the book and it is a nonfiction book I seem to keep recommending to people and talking about.

I read 10 non-fiction books in November. Standouts are: Free:A Child and a Country at the End of History by Lea Ypi- memoir of a girl who grew up during the fail of socialism in Albania. I knew nothing about the country and I thought the perspective of a child suited the absurdity of life so well. Funny Farm- Laurie Zeleski- I went into this expecting just humorous stories about rescue animals but it was more about her childhood and her amazingly resilient mother who I feel honoured to learn about Nomad Century: How Climate Migration will Reshape Our World by Gaia Vince- A massive topic and I have qualms about a number of the author's solutions and suppositions but it was the most thought-provoking book I have read in a LONG time. It has spawned significant avenues for discussion and further research.

this month i read maus by art spiegelman, as i had an already existing interest in it which became more pronounced and imperative after it's banning, as well as refusing compulsory sexuality: a black asexual lens on our sex-obsessed culture by sherronda j. brown, as part of my ongoing education in my developing understanding of my asexual identity.

I listened to Catch and Kill this past month and found the details that were not in the news reports quite shocking -- which is amazing since I thought nothing could shock me anymore. Also listened to Viola Davis' memoir and am now finishing Billy Porter's memoir. I thought I was going to get to The Pocket: A Hidden History of Women's Lives by Barbara Burman and Ariane Fennetaux, but I haven't cracked it open yet.

I only managed two nonfictions in November, Constructing a Nervous System by Margo Jefferson and The Invisible Kingdom by Meghan O'Rourke. I can't say that either was the best non fiction I have read but they were fine to read and as always I learned a thing or two.

Random question: I had a great aunt named Olive but I don’t know the origin of her name. Do you know yours? My Olive had Scottish and Norwegian ancestors. I'm glad you had such a fruitful reading months. I like when you read similar books because if I liked one of them, I'll be likely to want to pick up one that complements it. Having participated in #nonfictionnovember for at least the past 4 years, I had my most productive #nonfictionnovember this year. 6/16 of the books I read were nonfiction. Although I didn't follow the prompts, I read off my shelf, including The Sisters: The Saga of the Mitford Family, which had been sitting on my shelf for about 6 years.
