I've had the same experience with bush chicken, Flew right into my cabin window while I was sitting at the table! Scared the hell outta me! LOL I seen fellas in the Yukon who used spray foam for chinking on the same vertical log style. On the inside they whitewashed everything to keep it bright inside & I think they used brown Mono caulking over the foam on the outside. The whole cabin was made of poplar & rebar for spikes. Clever engineering I think & not too far removed from an old beaver lodge in design. Glad too see you back Andrew. Happy Abo day from Ontario👍👍

I used spray foam it's so messy and ugly. I will stain the logs this fall I think!

LOL. Seen that once with a pheasant. Was eating supper and looked up just in time to see it soar right into the large living room window, Shook like a SOB but never broke. Knocked the bird out but it revived in about 10 mins and took off. 😆😂

I was on a flight out of Orlando in a WWII Texan(I think) back in the 90s and the pilot was an old WWII vet pilot. We took a chicken through the wind screen and oh what a mess. Blood and feathers everywhere. The old man landed like a champ and apologized to me. I said are you kidding, I have a memory for the rest of my life. I apologize to you as I know that wind screen is not cheap. He tried to return my flight fee, I said no and gave him an extra $150. I hope you eat the chicken. Happened to someone I know in Maine, froze solid on the ground. They ate maybe a month later after defrosting it

Sanding would go quicker if you used a rough grit(maybe 80) then finish with finer grit. Seems like more work but I would have that done in 2 to 3 days. Looks like you had a random orbital sander
@TheWildNorth5 күн бұрын
I had 40 and 60 grit paper. If you could do that in 2 or 3 days your highered. Cabin is 16 ft by 24 ft. I'm open to ideas how to go abouts the cracks between the logs.
@brinkee76745 күн бұрын
@@TheWildNorth Depends on what your looking for with the chinking. I've used many through the years like Log Jam, Mortar Match, Perma Chink which need to be used with backing rod(filler). Otherwise you can go with old method of Two parts Portland cement, one part oakum, one part random grass found on the ground or moss. The first group should last the longest and is easy to use but will cost substantially more. The first group is flexible so it expands and contracts well unlike the stiff Portland
@PaulyOutdoors5 күн бұрын
@@TheWildNorth I don't know if you have or know anyone who may have one, but if you could get a belt sander with 40 grit...that would make that job super easy and quick. If the finish product is too rough, you can always go back over it with something like 80 to polish it up smooth with the orbital. Not sure about the gaps in the wood walls....I guess the quickest way to fill it in would be to spray expanding foam into it like you did the windows. Then cut out the excess and sand it down flat maybe? If I had my passport, I'd drive up there with all of my tools to help you out in a second! I'd have to stop and pick up Uncle Gary on my way though :)
