A man has appeared in the Midland Magistrates Court charged with murder following a brutal assault on a 15-year-old.
After the attack, Cassius had a large gash to his head requiring seven stitches, and his ear was slashed. Following treatment, he was discharged and returned home.
In the following hours, he experienced severe pain and began to seize. Returning to the hospital, he was placed in an induced coma. Later, he underwent brain surgery at Perth Children’s Hospital to relieve swelling and bleeding on the brain but suffered two strokes. On Sunday 23 October, Cassius passed.
Mechelle Turvey wants her son to be remembered as a much-loved teenager who loved basketball and football, willing to give anything a go.
"He looks after everyone and has this beautiful gift of making people smile and laugh, and uplifting people," she said.

I cannot believe the horror of this incident I don't think anybody could comprehend the pain and agony this family is going through but I also think it's disgusting that the Aboriginal people are using his death to say that people are deliberately targeting Aboriginal people when that is not the case.
