It is incredibly interesting that there are other animals that display his same or similar condition. Color is one of the last things to develop on a crested gecko before they hatch. I always just assumed that he hatched before he fully baked. But his pattern changing over time sounds more like a condition like vitiligo. Thanks for posting, I've always been curious about his history.

That's an interesting theory as well! We've seen some photos of some recent hatchlings from another breeder that look similar to him, so it will be interesting to see if their coloration changes over time as well, or if they are more static than PZ.

How does he have such dark eyes? Are his pupils always dilated or does he have "phantom" eyes?

The cause of his dark eyes isn't yet known, but the entire eye is dark. It's hard to see, but his pupils are actually visible in certain lighting and they dilate just like other cresties!

Is there any way to purchase his offspring? Or are they being kept in house exclusively? Is it perhaps a recessive trait that might pop back up in a later generation?

We've sold some of his offspring before, and typically make it clear that they are from his lineage; keeping an eye on our social media platforms is the best way to know when we do sell some! We've ruled out it being a recessive trait as we've gone through the process of testing that inheritance pattern with no success in recreating his appearance.

We've never ordered from them, so we can't say if it's similar. You order through the website, then schedule the ship day through the website, and as long as the weather is safe those days, we'll ship. It's very easy and streamlined.

He does tend to tilt his head. He is able to see, though we think he might see better out of one eye compared to the other which would explain why he tilts his head to look at stuff.
