Hello friend. Did you know that Taji😮 in Parsi refers to Arabs & in Armenian, Tajik refers to Turks?
@centralasian44642 ай бұрын
@@aragregorian6039 Maybe. If so, perhaps verbally & in selected areas. Before it was used to describe Persian speakers who first converted to Islam (from Zoroastrianism).. There is also “tay” - representing an Arabic tribe (in Persian people called taji or tazi) which I’m not sure had much to do with Tajiks in Central Asia. Not sure on your point re Tajiks being referred as Turks too. In the contrary, term “Tajik” was used to differentiate people speaking Persian (including eastern dialects as sogdian, baktrian, pamiri) from those speaking Turkic & Arabic (& Greek, remaining from Selevkids period)..

We are neighbors with Arabs, we have too many Arabic words (as mentioned in the video 40 percent Arabic loan words or even more), and we use Arabic alphabets for writing. And our basic vocab and grammar are more similar to European languages than to Arabic. Mother (en) - Mater (Latin) - Maadar [ˈməT͟Hər] (fa) - Omm ['um] (ar) But Arabic along with Hebrew and Aramaic and some others are Semitic languages. I recently started analysing the so-called Turkic languages of Central Asia and came to a conclusion that this region had either been under a strong Persian influence in the past or used to trade with Indo-Persian world, which can be traced in numerous word borrowings. For example, words used for many vegetables, cereals, days of the week, round-shaped baking oven (tandur) are very similar to those found in modern and old Persian. It is amazing. Zaboni Tochiki (the Tajik language) is probably the closest one to Farsi in the large family of Indo-Persian languages

Persian poetry mesmerizes me! I read them either in French or English. I can imagine how paradisiaque it would be if I read them in Persian itself! I have no chance!

Yup, reading poems in Persian is pretty tough even for natives like me, though I gotta say it's pretty rewarding if someone manages to do that😅😂💙

Really Persian poems are really wonderful. They have some little Idiom and when they translate to other languages, may people don't understand. But for us, they are just like a whole life lessons!

You might be surprised to know that under Mughal rule, hundreds, maybe thousands of Hindus (mostly Brahmins) knew how to read and write Farsi. They were good with numbers and served as book-keepers and accountants under the Mughals, so they had to deal with Farsi, the official court language at that time. Later on, as their expertise in Farsi grew, they started translating Farsi literature and poetry into Sanskrit and local languages. As Farsi became popular among Sanskrit scholars, many Sanskrit works of literature were translated to Farsi by these scholars. Even after British replaced Farsi with English in the mid-1800's, Farsi continued to be the most popular "foreign" language among Hindus, and continued to be taught in most of the elite colleges. My great-great grandfather, a Hindu scholar living in Calcutta under British rule, taught both Sanskrit and Farsi in a British college.

Thank you Sanjoy for sharing this. What you have written is absolutely correct and is duly recorded in history books. As you know a huge pogrom of Zoroastrian people to India took place after Arab invasion of Iran (Persia) resulting in many Persians settlers taking refuge in India, who to this day are referred to as Parsees by Indian people. All the best Sanjay. 🙏
