It's also more complicated than a simple respiratory system issue. It also affects their circulatory system by making their blood not carry oxygen effectively. Think extremely low red blood cell count and fluids pooling in the lungs due to an over production of said fluids. That's at least what I can pick up having studied medicine enough to give rough diagnosis on both animals and people. Perks of growing up on a farm and having a mental illness that makes me always want to study something and retain it like a fucking sponge.

@@terrybailey9621 thane says in one of the games i think its the third one im paraphrasing since i forgot exactly what he said i think he said "it is your equivilent of low hemiglobin" and it leaves them unable to absorb oxygen and even sometimes unable to breathe at all what a painful way to go :( . So you were right it affects their bodies way of dealing with oxygen. He'll forever remain in my top 5 characters

Project Lazarus was far and away the most expensive medical procedure in history using all the best medical technology in the galaxy, don't be surprised by the fact that the Hanar can't quite replicate it. Especially since the Hanar only recently started looking for a cure for this particular medical condition.

Franklin Araujo Hey we don't know anything for sure. They were quite the popular species and its not unheard of for some Hanar to have joined the journey to Andromeda to spread the word of the Enkindlers and to have brought some of their faithful Drell with them.

Little late to the video but I see the drell as a terrifying yet calming species due to them being very simple and to the point with everything they do. If anything they terrify me more than krogans because they're intelligent enough and fast enough thinkers to attack any weakness they spot and utilize any tool they have to get an upper hand, just imagine Thane probably knew a dozen ways to kill a krogan with a pillow and none include the typical smothering.

I like to RP that my mShep was already married when ME1 began, to a drell doctor that works on Earth in Arizona(or some area around there). He has similar colouring to Thane, much to the confusion of poor lil shep who sometimes calls Thane the cutesy pet names shep made for his husband out of habit. It amuses Thane terribly. I could never really let my shep romance anyone in game because it might have felt like he was cheating on his poor frog prince. I know, I know, it sounds silly...

One of my hopes is that at least 5 or more Drell play important or memorable roles in Mass Effect Andromeda. Another is that half of them are female with or without an active compact with a Hanar. And finally; although the true end of ME3 is an intentional mystery cliffhanger, I hope a colony of a few hundred or a couple of thousand compact-less Drell colonized on a few new planets similar to Rakanah in atmosphere, climate and temperature. But with underground rivers and oceans of fresh water and mining ships to collect ice and minerals from space. After all I'm sure the Krogan DMZ is soon to become the Krogan Federation or Confederacy or something. It seems only fair that other loyal or capable races get their shot at expansion. Technically that's what ME: A is gonna be about. Pertaining to Protheans though, I don't know if Javik could turn in his beam rifle and armor for a lab coat and a laboratory kit to start over his species. He seemed pretty sure that he was gonna find a dark place far away and finish the extinction the Reapers began.

I wouldn’t mind if BioWare allowed us to be an of the main alien species we want. It would be cool to be a drell, or Krogan, etc… I’m curious at what the story for the next mass effect would be. I’ve seen people talk about the first contact war game but I would rather have a new game after the mass effect trilogy even if it was hundreds of years after. Suck Andromeda wasn’t done better cause that could of been a great starting off point.

i think the drell are pretty cool. not my my kind of eye candy, but each their own i guess lol. not a big fan on how their religion is though. it makes them seem irresponsible for any bad thing they do, it kinda turned me away from thane. by the way, isn't it kinda weird that they live in dry and desert environments, yet their version of heaven involves an ocean?

"No religion is complete without a god" Common misconception bro. Gods and religion is not synonymous. Just take a look at the eastern religions like Taoism. Even something like shintoistic gods weren't prayed to or asked for advice, they were just metaphysical representations for junk. Example: They didn't pray to amaterasu for more sunlight for their crops.

True, not all religions are directly theistic, however Taoism has Tao - the metaphysical center of all being, which is often defined through negations and paradoxes just like God is defined in apophatic theology of western traditions or Brahman in hinduism. Buddhism is often regarded as an atheistic religion, however they too have deities they call "devas" who inhabit the higher levels of samsara's existence. In mahayana tradition of buddhism, believers pray to bodhisattva's - enlightened people who refuse to enter nirvana in order to help others escape the reincarnation wheel. They are similar to saints in roman catholicism. Also, some mahayana buddhists believe in Adibuddha - the eternal enlightened one. This concept is very close to monotheism. So statement "No religion is complete without a god" is not too far fetched. Even primitive tribes who have no gods deify their totemic ancestors and pray to them.

Drell lore is bs. Arid planets should logicaly have MORE natural resources in the form of minerals than any other kind of planet

Minerals maybe, but a dry arid planet would have little water and thus little vegetation, and when the Drell hit the industrial age their pollution warmed the planet even more. Before they realized, it was too late to save the dwindling resources.
