Just giving what I consider good professional advise. All those apps are great but they are just that, apps. Your radio will not be channeled to the TAK channel the Officers and other responders are on. You will have the dispatch channel only. There’s a lot more to this than you know. I assure you that.

Texas resident. The cops stayed outside for 40 minutes while the guy was murdering. They tackled a parent trying to do what was neccesary. Let's read that again slowly. The cops, who people expect to protect them and their loved ones...ESPECIALLY in gun free school zones, Stayed outside fully aware and listening to shots being fired at LITTLE KIDS, and refused to do anything to help them, AND ACTUALLY STOPPED PEOPLE WILLING TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT. Those cops WANTED those kids to die. Those cops DESERVE to watch their families due in front of their eyes. They ARE NOT good people. Good people are NOT bound by rules. ESPECIALLY in a school shooting. Only people expressly COMPLICIT IN THE EVIL ACT would stand outside with body armor and firearms. They are government officials who only care about the government. The government wanted to kill kids to call for gun control. You live in a communist police state. Democrats = communists Republicans = communists Independents = communist supporters Libertarians = communist supporters It's a tyranny. No tyranny in the history of the world has ever been voted out or removed using the legal system that put it in charge. Neither will America.

2 weeks before a $30 million gang task force program was about to lose its funding in my region, the first ever gang shootout within 5 hours of my town happened exactly 300ft away from the front doors of the local police station. The shooting went on for 3 minutes and it took another 8 minutes for the first cop to leave the building. Over a dozen people just ran in the station screaming in that time, and over forty 911 calls before they responded. By total coincidence ALL 3 shooters that lived got away, and the gang task force program was renewed with a 5x bigger budget…. Makes you think….

Cody, I'm a Desert Storm veteran, US Navy F/A-18 pilot. One of my biggest fears was being shot down by the Aegis cruiser on my way back to the ship after a mission. Cody, I agree with you that I would be willing to take ANY RISK to rescue my children, but my biggest concern with entering a school as a civilian is the possibility of being mistaken for the active shooter and accidentally shot and killed by law enforcement - when they finally show up. I listened to an interview with one of the teachers from Texas this morning who said that she refused to open her classroom door until the officer slid his ID under the door to identify himself. As civilians, we don’t have documentation that differentiates us from the shooters, and I also believe there is a prejudice by law enforcement against civilians inserting themselves into emergency situations and “making matters worse” - their definition, not mine. Again, I would do ANYTHING to rescue my child (or any child) up to and including risking my life, but I think there are legitimate risks, possibly even from law enforcement, that should be considered and mitigated before proceeding into an active shooter situation. It’s tragic that we can’t always rely on anyone but ourselves to deal with emergencies, and we should be prepared to act if necessary, but everyone needs to acknowledge and accept the risks of doing so.

I truly hope that each and every one of those "brave officers" never find a single moment of peace where their conscience isn't troubling them for their inactivity on that day. I think your ending points on potential repercussions of going in and end up being shot at by law enforcement touches on a good topic. Decentralizing police force and instigating more discussion/planning between local authorities and retired vets, police force, deputies or otherwise. We've learned far too many times that "policy" often gets decided by out of touch individuals, and when said policy gets implemented, we see what happens, and more often than not, it's tragic.

I love the idea of using my Beofang for that but the issue is some departments, my local included, use a trunked and encrypted radio system so nobody can listen into the scans anymore. A system to listen into a trunked frequency is pushing 2k plus range and isnt something you carry/can around all the time. now for the "go bag" I agree with everything in that, gives you a great option for any problem you may need to solve. "you dont have training" Neither did the gentleman who stopped the church shooting in 2019, Jack Wilson. Nor did the gentleman who stopped the Texas church massacre in 2017. He was a neighbor who grabbed his AR-15 from the house and shot the gunman, then rode WITH POLICE and helped provide cover for the police to take the shooter into custody. We as civilians may not receive the same training as people in the profession of arms or police force but we can get enough on our own through KZbin or in person classes to be competent with our firearms and defend our families and communities.

Cody, I would like to add 2 brands to your list... all the ones you listed will result in a $1800-$3000 "long" dispenser. Aero precision is very good, but there is a company called 17 designs that makes receivers sets that have the same high quality features as LMT & Aero for a fraction of the price (less than $200 for the set to my door) and Expo Arms has chrome lined barrels/bolt carriers for less than $200. If you get a decent handguard (Wraith, $60) and you get a Sig Romeo 5 red dot for $100 then you're all in for about $700-800, depending on what sling you get. Personally, I picked up a $20 Amazon special that came with a small 2 zipper bag I use as a detachable med pack, I hung 90lbs from the sling using the QD mounts & it didn't pop, so I'm sure it'll hold a 7lb stick. Aside from that, Thank you for saying the things nobody else wants to, the uncomfortable truths...

Let me try to break down your comment and help you understand some things. "Why should the few protect the masses." Government wants it that way. They need you to be dependent on them, so they have a reason to exist. Thats why they take away pewpews, and arbitrarily make up rules that you cannot protect yourself without facing their shotcallers in the kangaroo courts. They force you to be helpless by threat of kidnaptime, false imprisonment, and violations of your rights, their oath, their rules, their policies, etc... You need to pay them money for everything, the more money you give them, the more "not guilty" you are. "We send our most innocent and vulnerable to an unprotected area and hope they will be ok." The same government that needs you to be dependent on them, are the ones running those pewpewfree public schools. If you are sending your kids to those institutions, you're doing it wrong. "Honestly it's shocking that this doesn't happen more often." Actually it does happen more often. LE delete at least 3 ppl per day. You just dont hear about it, because they cant have you thinking they are the bad guys. Propaganda is a powerful thing. "I'm tired of us responsible firearm owners bearing the brunt of the legislation that will come from this." Everyone is a responsible (enter whatever here), until they are not. but again, legislation is part of government, they need you to be dependent on them. They will keep making up more rules, until they are in complete control. They use these events to play on your emotions to get you to allow them to take away more of your rights, and give them more power. A lot of ppl say the government makes these types of events happen, and for good reason. Many of the governments "official" narratives just dont add up. "Would a politicians child be in a school where this could happen?" Read above. "Why do they have privilege?" Congrats, you now know who the real SovCits are.

From what I've read and heard, the local LEO's failed miserably. As often the case, cops are all ruff and tuff until it's time to do REAL cop stuff. Had parents been allowed to enter they would have taken MUCH less time to respond. I like your kit. No fuss, no muss just useful items to have in an emergency. Also, people need to remember to carry quality "seeds" as well. No junk el cheapo stuff which is likely to fail when needed. Quality "hand made" or store bought. Where I don't completely disagree with you, imagine how many "parents " might have actually shot at each other, rather than the actual shooter. Any response must be coordinated, and an attempt to establish a command as soon as possible. This would create a command point for the LEO's to step into and allow some, even if mediocre, control over people responding. They can be used to establish a perimeter, at best, and entry, at worst. The last thing anyone involved would want, is to accidentally be identified as the hostile shooter. My best recommendation for most parents is to stay at home and leave it to the "professionals."

They may positively personally interact with you for information, or assistance. Even to give them confidence, requesting you to hold/maintain a point, so that they can move on to their proactive post in confidence. You will probably not be asked to join their team. Act appropriately, confident, listen to them, answer questions with viable information. You will very likely be requested to hold the perimeter with authority. That information will be radio to other responding law enforcement to keep you safe. At minimum in your town, join the CERT program. Learn how to respond in an emergency, and what the first responder will expect from you, how you will be available for assistance. Your name/information will be in the police and fire dispatch computer database. They will have confidence in your call/contact/engagement/information.

I think there is a more fundamental problem that your response skips past; what is it about US culture that makes this type of tragedy so common? One a crazy person enters a school with a gun, its already too late. I think the fact that he was able to stroll in unchallenged is the biggest flaw. I'm a teacher, and in my home nation, almost every school has a giant perimeter fence and the building have external doors can only be opened from the inside. But even this is skipping the real causal issue. Why do so many ultimately choose to do this? It truly is a US issue as it happens so much more frequently there. What can be done to change the culture?

I can't agree more. I think the headlines surrounding this issue only ever describe symptoms of the problem, and this mentality is holding us back as a country. The problem with the US isn’t that they have guns, many countries have them and there are not nearly as much issues with them. The real issue is the US people and their way of handling firearms

Crazy people with guns? Yeah, you could solve that even earlier. Universal background checks. Only give guns to people who are trustworthy (that is about 10 % of your population, TOPS). Or even better: Hand out free treatment to mentally ill people. But no. Thats communism. Better arm our teachers and schoolkids. Murica!

This must be among the best and most respectful videos about this topic. Thank you for that. Where I live, things are bit... difficult. Regardless of a ham radio license, we are not allowed to listen in to the mentioned radio traffic. Also, we don't really have the option to defend ourselves. To get a permit to carry a freedom dispenser feels like impossible for the average guy. On the other hand, there are a lot of dispensers in the hands of people who do not have the aspect of freedom in mind. And specifically 99.9% of followers of Christ are totally anti dispenser. Fight for your freedom, as long as possible.

@@backyardworker it's strange how Christians here feel the exact opposite about freedom dispensers. Especially where I live in the rural south (Arkansas). I don't know a single person who doesn't have at least one. I had no idea Germany had such anti dispenser laws
@backyardworker
@backyardworker 2 жыл бұрын
@@ericfountain4656 it's not just the law. Though, that in itself is strict enough. E.g. monitoring police radio frequency is 2 years jail or a substantial fine. But it's the whole mindset. If you consider getting a dispenser as an EDC everyone assumes you are a criminal, a kids murderer. And OMG DON'T YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN AMERICA EVERY DAY... Think you can't top that? We have a political party which would support getting out of NATO and get rid of our army, entirely. And Christians think the Bible is all about peace, love, and happiness. God and Christ might have done some things, but hey, HE is allowed, because HE is God. Don't get me wrong, they are all well meaning people. But we have been conditioned to think this way. And partially I can understand that, due to our nations history. But people ignore for example that the disciples were told to take a sword with them, when Jesus sent them off on a mission. But, you know, that's not applicable for today, anymore... Problem is, I guess people don't realize that you can fall off on both sides of a horse. 🤷‍♂️

But what do we say to all the ones that want to remove 2nd amendment rights and say that this would not have happened if various items or conditions were ruled illegal and this would have never happened if this was so ?? Reality is, its not the tool, its the person using it. What has happened to our society, our humanity, our consciousness. There are far too many sick bastards among us, why ? Media, internet, lack of parents and discipline ?

Agreed…heart breaking is an understatement. It’s the perfect storm. Bad policy, lack of training, it’s awful. Individuals with experience (OIF/OEF vets, and others) can impart a ton of experience and training to these police departments that can prevent these events from occurring. And yes, would not wait/hesitate for 1 second to put an end to the destruction. Ferro Concepts makes nice plates, and Geissele makes a nice Airsoft. But your setup is top notch.

I’m trying to think of something to write that won’t offend someone but it’s pointless. I am a gun owner in Ireland. I bought my latest gun on December 4th last year. My licence is still in progress, character references, police interview, my doctor was contacted, background check, etc. Just today the Guards (police) came to my house to inspect that my gun cabinet was installed correctly. And this is my second gun, I already had to do all of this for my first gun. I’m all for guns for sport but can somebody tell me what is wrong with ensuring that the people who have the guns IN TODAYS WORLD are of sound mind? Just one solid, coherent reason.

How about we focus not on the guns in your statement (remove them from your argument), how about we focus on identifying those who are in trouble (mentally unstable) and get them help.....it is not, nor has it ever been about the gun or any other implement that someone has chosen to use to hurt others. It's really about the individual(s) involved.

Good video Cody. We should not be dealing with this type of stuff going on in this USA! We need to be ready when and if necessary anywhere unfortunately in this time period. Too bad things have been allowed to get like this. No excuse just be ready and hope we never have to deal with this stuff. You have an excellent setup that we can all use as a fine example to go by. Thanks. Hope the leg is getting better slowly but surely. Prayers for you and your family.

Cody 2 things I would add to the kit. 1 a speaker mic for the baofeng radio any 2 pin kenwood style mic will work and the second is a headset-audio-input-cable. You can plug it into your speaker mic and then into the audio jack on your headset and you can hear your radio through your headset. Both plugs use a 3.5mm plug.

Them Boufang radios are really good it’s worth buying the eight dollar program port. I used it last year for the wildfire season out here in New Mexico. I’ve been using it for the last month on the big Calf Canyon fire that burned parts of our family ranch. I got a thank you Cody because long ago when you first brought them up I bought five of them and Programmed them to the local vol FD I belong to. Yes I do have my department issued ICOM but I like having back up because it is so small and I can program other USFS crew channels in the field. I like the program port because you have a wider range of custom settings and you save your channel list and can program other radios fast with the same exact format. And it’s not hard at all.
