Liveth For Evermore

Күн бұрын

In October 2005, a column of M2 Bradley A.F.V's were on a mission in Central Iraq when one of them hit a roadside I.E.D.
Bursting into flames, the crew of the Bradley bailed out to safety, but the 6 U.S. soldiers and an Iraqi translator, who were in the rear passenger compartment, were trapped inside the flame-engulfed vehicle. Knowing this, Sergeant First Class Alwyn Cashe, with complete disregard for his own life and with the sole focus on saving his colleagues, made multiple trips to pull free the 7 passengers - all the while with his uniform on fire. This is the story of his actions and valor that went above and beyond the call of duty.
This video is dedicated to the memory of SFC Alwyn Cashe, S/Sgt George Alexander, Sgt Michael Robertson, Army Specialist Darren Howe, Army Specialist Raymond Salerno and the unidentified Iraqi translator.

If after being blown up and burnt in an IED attack, and returning seven times into a burning AFV while covered in fuel to rescue his men isn’t deserving of a MoH, then frankly no one is deserving of one.

Everyone knows of Carlos Hathcock as the famous Marine sniper during Vietnam. But he too was in a situation similar to SFC Cashe. Hathcock received 3rd degree burns over a majority of his body while single-handly pulling out 7 Marines from a burning APC. He survived, but also like SFC Cashe, a "clerical error" caused his medal paperwork to get lost in the system. He too eventually received the Silver Star, like 30 years later when he was in the late stages of multiple sclerosis.

@@ninjagrape2416 The bill is next going to the Senate for voting. Murphy said along the lines that she hsan't heard of anyone in the Senate having any problems with the bill, but also that she hasn't heard anyone outright supporting the bill either. But guaranteed this bill will pass Senate vote (I truly, truly want to know if any senator actually opposes this bill, no one had better oppose it). Once it passes the Senate, it goes to President Trump, and he will absolutely sign it and finally give Cashe the honor he so long deserved. The movement to upgrade Cashe's Silver Start to the Medal of Honor had languished for almost 15 years. Whether people agree with the protests that have been happening this year or not, there is no doubt that the events preceding the protests and the protests themselves, finally caused a lot of awareness of past wrongs. It is no coincidence that only a few months ago the Defense Secretary finally endorsed Sgt. Cashe to be awarded the Medal of Honor, when it had languished so long in limbo with no one caring at all about it.

@@harrymallory7963 I'll be the first to say that the initial invasion and through the surge period there was a lot of restructuring, disorganization and sloppiness going on, and not just with administrative stuff. There were multiple incidents when I had to pull staff duty that we'd get a Red Cross call to request or contact a certain soldier, and nobody knew where they were, Medical regularly mixed up records and reports, and obviously some command staff were not up to snuff and in the know (read the book "Black Hearts", the absolute failure of that command resulted in a terrible series of events that will infuriate you, and that's just one unit and one example). It was messy. I'm just glad they finally got Cashe's record fixed and he's getting honored appropriately.

I've heard this story before. A guy who is wearing a uniform soaked in fuel runs back into a burning vehicle to save his fellow soldiers. He deserves to have his award upgraded. The Bible talks about acts like this. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." I doubt he saw his actions as anything beyond what needed to be done. We see them as heroic and inspirational. Because that's exactly what they were.

2005 OIF3.Orginally there was a mix up that day SFC Cashe vechile was hit due to mutiple attacks in different sectors were called in. We in Baker Company lost also LT Fasnaught and Captain Cahill. When we got back to Fort Benning the BDE Commander and Britto pushed for SFC Bronze upgrade to a Silver Star. No disrespect, it has bern many years and I can not remember Britto's rank at the time of 2006. It took years and help of many people to get this done. Britto was promoted, became Post Commander of Fort Benning, then went to DC, but did not stop fighting for the Cashe family. I wished it could of been done sooner. Full thickness burns are so incredibly difficult to manage, both from a pre-hospital emergency care, and post admission treatment perspective. Also the smoke inhalation can cause horrific burns to the throat and airway, which swell and cause breathing difficulties. It's so important to sedate, intubate, ventilate the patient first in order to secure their airway, and then concentrate on the management of the wounds, which you can do very little for from a first aid perspective. These guys suffered exactly these types of injuries, but due to them being involved in an IED strike, and taking enemy fire, they won't have been able to get vital life saving treatment within the "Golden Hour". God Bless Sargent First Class Cashe, and all of his fallen brothers.

You are right! I would have never known his name had Ranger Villanueva not put it on his helmet. What a hero! I am not a big fan of the word "deserved" but SFC Cashe definitely earned the CMOH. Imagine all of the other heroic acts that go unknown to the public by our young men and women. These heroes are out there, we just don't hear about them.

SSG Cache was a Drill Sergeant when I went through Infantry OSUT on Sand Hill, Ft Benning, with Aco 2/54. He was hard but fair and a quiet professional who inspired others through his words and actions instead of using fear. R.I.P. SFC Cache and thank you for your leadership and inspiring so many soldiers during a time when they are most impressionable. Even though he wasn't a Ranger, he lived up to the Ranger Creed and deserves to be saluted as one: RANGERS LEAD THE WAY!

Prior service Marine Corps Vet here. Heroes like SFC Alwyn Cashe are the reason I get out of bed and live life to the fullest. Hard not to tear up hearing his incredible story. This man's family deserves to have his award upgraded to an MoH. what SFC Alwyn Cashe did for his soldiers was nothing short of super human. It is a crime that he has not been awarded the medal of honor. God bless Alwyn, Cashe. God bless the Cashe family. and thank you for being the example of what a true hero is. I think about this great man at least once a week!

What I love about this channel is that he doesn’t just talk about US and UK military operations, he gives the spotlight to other militaries around the world. I feel like the militaries in other countries are always being overshadowed by the US and UK and they don’t get enough credit.

They have a training ground named after his father as well. God bless men like FS Cashe . Pittsburgh Steelers and Fonder Army Ranger Alejandro Villanueva wrote his name on his helmet during one of the first few games of this season.. Honoring a true hero..

Thank you so much for making this video to honor SFC Cashe and the brave men who served with him. I was deployed to Baghdad at the time of Cashe's death and read about him rescuing soldiers from a Bradly and getting badly burned, but I never knew the details of his heroic sacrifice until now. There were so many acts of selfless bravery that occurred during this war, but most times we were too busy fighting to survive to emotionally process the events, learn the details of what happened, or count the lives lost. Your videos have helped me (and many others who fought in these conflicts) to weave fractured memories, after-action-reports, veteran rumors, and news reports into a more complete tapestry of the events that shaped our lives. Men such as Alwyn Cashe are legend and are deserving of recognition and memorial. Thank you.
