1. Fill Pool 2. Fill chlorine bobber to the top and put in pool. 3. Start Pump 4. Check your PH and Chlorine levels. Add accordingly. The back of both will tell you how much to add. 5. Run your pump for 8-10 hours, then check your levels again. Add if you need too. If not, enjoy! Check your levels every couple days. The summer heat will ZAP all the chemicals quick. Let me know if you have any questions.

I have a small above-ground pool with roughly 1800 gallons of water, and I'm learning about pool maintenance. I bought several products from Clorox, based on the app. Do the products in this video matter the most? Also, I believe the main things to watch for are chlorine, pH, and alkalinity levels. However, based on the Clorox testing strips, I'm not sure if the water hardness number matters. Any advice you can give would be very helpful.

So, all I ever look for when maintaining my pool is the chlorine and PH. Nothing else. I use the Clorox 3Way Testing Kit to measure both, and add accordingly. I honestly don't even know what all the other stuff means. LOL. I have always done it that way, and have never had it turn green. The only products I keep on hand it Shock, PH UP and Down, and Chlorine tablets.

Hi it’s me again…lol..ok one more question when you shock your pool is that for first time fill up, or every week? Than add liquid choline, then the tablets
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 6 ай бұрын
Great question! It is kinda all of the above. Ha! Shocking your pool after you fill it up is recommended. This will give the pool a big dose of chlorine. Then check your PH and and chlorine levels every other day through the summer. Shock as needed. During the summer, I typically shock the pool once a week and twice at the peak of summer. The chlorine bobber needs to be filled with the tablets at all times, as it stays in the pool around the clock. This will help dissipate the chlorine at a slower level.

@OurTopPinLife 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, for the most part all you will need for maintenance is shock and chlorine tablets. However, with the heat of the summer adding an Algacide with clarifier is crucial to keep the alage at bay. I typically shock my pool every couple days, and keep the chlorine bobber full at all times with tablets. I use the alagicde treatment maybe once a week. As water is added, either by rain or you adding it with a hose, it will mess with the PH level. So, I keep PH up and PH down on hand for those instances. You should be checking your chlorine and PH levels every couple of days with a tester. Hope this helps!

@OurTopPinLife 3 жыл бұрын
You will need to balance your chlorine and PH 1st. Both of those can be added at once. Run your pump for 6-8 hours then recheck those levels. Add if they aren't where they need to be. If they are high it will even out over a couple days. Just make sure you run your pump daily, for 6-8 hours. As far as how much, you will need to refer to the back of the bottle. It will show how much depending on your pool size.

So what is the first thing I should do to my pool once it’s all filled up and what chemicals should be the first one to add
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 3 жыл бұрын
After filling I would check your chlorine and PH levels. Adjust if needed. You will adjust according to the directions on the back. Make sure you have a chlorine bobber is full and stays full at all times. Run your pump. You probably won't need any alagcide for a couple week, but if your water turns cloudy or you notice algae on the bottom add accordingly.

You need to check your chlorine and PH levels. Most likely you will need to add choline (shock), chlorine tablets in your bobber, and add PH up or down. Your tester will show what you are lacking, and add accordingly to the directions on the back.

We are having trouble keeping our pool clear and think maybe our calculations for total water are off….? 22 feet X 4.33 feet= 12,364, and the water doesn’t go to the top rail of 52”. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you.
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 3 жыл бұрын
I use the 16,500 loosely. I know there are many factors that can change that. If your water is cloudy 1 or 2 things are needed. You may need to add more chlorine. I typically use the 1 lb packages of shock when I do mine. If your chlorine and PH are good, then I suggest adding the Algacide and clarifier. Hope this helps.

@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 2 жыл бұрын
When you first fill it you need to check your chlorine and PH levels. Most likely you will need to add shock and PH up or down. Shock is a maintenance that needs to be added when the pool needs is.. Once those are balanced, a weekly check to make sure it stays balanced is necessary. When the summer heat starts checking your levels every couple days is necessary because the sun will zapp the chemicals. I don't have to use alagicde until the heat of the summer when the water is super warm. Hope this helps!

@OurTopPinLife

It has actually been raining for 3 weeks straight. We also love in Texas. There isn't much I can do until it stops raining because my chemicals won't stay balanced. Rain will raise the PH. When it stops raining I will shock it, deal with the PH, and use Algacide. I am trying to run my automatic vaccumm every couple days. Make sure you are backwashing your pump often. It is important to keep the pump running as efficiently as possible. Also, make sure you are balancing your PH. The PH and Cholrine has to be balanced before using alagacide. Vaccumm daily for now until you can get it back.

I just bought a pool and I bought the ph down, shock, algaecide, chlorine tablets, and alkalinity increased. I have the Clorox app and I added what it told me I needed but it keeps telling me to add more ph down and tons of other stuff. I’m just confused at this point
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife Жыл бұрын
I hate the app! I bought the old school plastic water tester, with the drops. That seems to be the most accurate. Let you filter run for a few days without adding chemicals. Let it filter out, then recheck.

What would I use clarifier(Clorox Brand) for
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 3 жыл бұрын
Sometimes when you add alot of the chemicals the pool just needs something to clarify the water. Makes it super clear and sparkly.

What do you mean by backwash?
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 2 жыл бұрын
Your pump/filter has to be backwashed on a regular basis to remove debris from the pump. Similar to cleaning a filter.

So you use the the shock and the chlorine tablets or can you choose one
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, they can added at the same time. Cholrine tablets stay in all the time, and the shock is only done as needed. When you shock your pool you are adding a big dose of chlorine to your pool at once. The tablets help keep very minimal amounts of chlorine in the water, so that is why a good shock is sometimes needed.

We did not. Our pool isn't perfectly round so the cover wouldn't fit correctly. I just ran my pump like normal and kept it vaccummed.

I have to vaccum 1-2 times a week. I up it in the summer to keep alage and slim off the bottom. I highly encourage you to buy an automatic vaccum. That will require very little time on your part. Hope that helps!

What does shock do? Do you have a video when you do a full service?
@OurTopPinLife
@OurTopPinLife 3 жыл бұрын
The shock adds a big dose of chlorine at once. You need chlorine to keep the water clear and kill any bacteria and algae that may form. I do not have a full service video, as every pool is different in amount.of chemicals they may need.

@@cowboysnation1594 half a bag of shock then test your water you will need a chlorine tablet thats for sure and get some of the clorox algaecide + clarifier you will want to add some of that after you shock it and your chlorine levels are right. Not a dumb question! Chlorine is both, shock and tablets. The shock you will use once or twice a week. The tablets are put into a bobber and needs to stay full, and in the pool, at all times. Hope this helps!

Shock and PH can be done together. Algacide has to be done after the chlorine and PH are balanced.
