Do you experience any pain with your prostheses when you walk with it?

There is almost always some level of discomfort with a prosthetic limb, but if there is significant pain we would highly recommend seeking out your prosthetist to discuss options to improve the fit. This is particularly true of discomfort at the very end of your limb.

This individual is demonstrating her gait pattern following an above knee amputation. She has impaired balance and control over the prosthetic limb with potential weakness on that side. That is at least a general idea.

Most notably there is a pattern known as past retraction. This involves a kicking out of the prosthetic leg and you see the prosthetic limb pull back to hit the ground. This comes from a lack of confidence in the prosthetic knee which results in a loss of efficiency in the walking pattern. You can see that she actually slows down every time that she takes a step with the prosthetic limb. Another thing present is left hip weakness and reduced control on that side as well. There is more, but that is a general overview of the major points.
