One of the great things about being bi-racial, I was introduced to music from every genre. My mom introduced me to all the great Motown artists, blues, jazz, etc. My pops (white) he introduced me to all the rock Gods! His favorite was Pink Floyd. When I was about 10 he introduced me to PF! I remember him telling me, "You probably won't understand this now, but someday you will. You don't just hear Pink Floyd. You FEEL and you EXPERIENCE Floyd!" My pops was right! I didn't understand! But, I sure do now!

I never was a huge Pink Floyd fan growing up (never really gave them a chance), but as I've grown older I've come to really appreciate their music. Their best songs sound as fresh today as they did decades ago and I think they are unrivaled when it comes to creating music that takes you off to somewhere else. Most of my friends that liked them when I was young were smokers, and I can see how the two would go hand in hand.

Please specify UNCUT version as everybody is viewing the edited version. Version everybody is watching is total length 9:52 and has 16M views. The Uncut version is 10:59 and has only 160K views. And everything that is cut, is from the finale!! Over 1 minute of guitar genius has been cut!! And don't watch the 'remastered' uncut version, it seems like they tried to patch something together to get the best visuals, I find the original uncut version the best. I am trying to get everybody to see the full version, it deserves it.
@psbarrow
@psbarrow 4 жыл бұрын
@@helmutvogel901 The uncut version of "Comfortably Numb" is of very poor quality as it was lifted off the telly from the live PPV broadcast. And the person who edited the guitar solo was Gilmour himself as there were some notes in the (now) excised section he didn't like (it was not edited to fit on the original VHS tape as some think). If Gilmour had wanted us to watch/listen to the uncut version he would have restored it on the CD, DVD, and Blu-ray releases, but he didn't, so the official PULSE release is Gilmour's own preferred version of this song, not the uncut version.

People often cite the first solo as the greatest of his, and sometimes as the greatest of all, but I disagree. The first one is definitely beautiful, but the second then shreds its memory and goes further, deeper, and in theory could just go on blistering away forever.

To me music is a universal social medium that all people can relate to and it is a true magical way to get someone else to feel what you felt in that moment. You can tell from the delivery if the musician or song writer experienced what the song is about and that is when truly beautiful music happens.

Metaphorically this song means so much more to people individually than the incident you read about what inspired it. Such is the nature of true art. It also takes on deeper meaning within the context of the concept double album it comes from "The Wall'. All part of a much larger narrative told in the course of the album. One of the all-time best-selling albums in the world. You should check out "Time" by them next from a different album, Dark Side of the Moon.

Just to say I'm agree 100%. "The Wall" jumped the borderline of music and it is, itself, an other dimension experience and it has to be enjoyed as a whole. You simply cannot listen just one song, as much you can't read 3 pages and consider the book is already read.

You'll never get to see Pink Floyd but according to them .... if you want to experience them and you see .... The Australian Pink Floyd Show in your area .... get tickets and you'll experience almost the real thing. I saw them in Liverpool a few years back and they blew me away.

This song is about an original member of the band that became so doped out of his mind from psychedelics that he literally had to get drugged in order to be able to walk on stage. I hear you're feeling down Well I can ease your pain Get you on your feet again The lyrics are a dialogue between Syd Barrett and the drugs, written by the band to honor him and his personal struggle between reality and the perpetual state of tripping he ended up in as a sequel of drug abuse. When I was a child I had a fever My hands felt just like two balloons Now I've got that feeling once again I can't explain you would not understand This is not how I am I have become comfortably numb Anyway, if you think those Pink Floyd songs are a special kind of vibe by themselves, try to watch their live videos. Only then can you understand the dimension their sound came from.

Use the album's as a baseline there gold standard so when you get around to looking at there concert videos you can see the sound masters (a comment you made on your 1st Pink Floyd reaction) and how they are truly Master Musicians. I subscribed on your 1st Pink Floyd reaction video and appreciate that you've taken the time to an honest reaction.

LOL The more I dig your stuff... the more I find you digging the stuff I grew up to.... Loving your take on it all! Check out the entirety of "The Wall",helps focus on what this song is about, it cant be taken outside its whole with full meaning. A sad story really... one of many in this world. The US has def tried to make itself "comfortably numb" ....

You should watch the live version of Comfortably Numb at the 1994 PULSE live concert at Earl's Court in London. They played every night consecutively for 2 weeks. David Gilmour's guitar solo, along with the entire band's performance, and excellent light show, was nothing short of a musical masterpiece. Make a point to enjoy it.
