If it makes you feel any better, my father recently thought about scrapping his e39 528i that he’s had for 25 years and replace it with a Chinese EV of all things (horrible fuel prices, tax exemption “coincidentally” only for Chinese EVs), the car’s AC immediately decided to stop producing cold air so it could cook us in a 35 degree city. These cars really do have a soul and get mad if you try to replace them especially with garbage.

Our whole life revolves around creating memories. When she was happy that it was a subsciber who bought the car. It was as if the farewell was not so bad, because someone with whom there is a personal connection will be happy. It is always nice to see how children, no matter how old, do not necessarily have to grasp complex topics completely in order to understand the emotional attitude behind them.

@@dadcars even after seven children, I never felt fully prepared for every challenge. The willingness to remain open to really everything and also to master the limits of what can be explained (together with the children) are all small life aids for later. Loved the recap of the family ownership at the end! Was there one for the Aston?
Sad to see the Dad-erati go, absolutely gorgeous thing. Glad the repair was not a bank-buster. I do feel for what ever car has to follow those two, a very high bar has been set. Sub-£10k, you can easily get 2nd gen BMW 650i (The infamous bangle-butt model). Yes the engine does have some publicised issues, but well-cared examples aren't as bad as the reputation says (I've owned my '08 650i since 2022), the engine is a diva so missed or poor maintenance is usually the root cause and mine has been a joy. The flip side is it's pretty punchy with 370 bhp, surprisingly good on fuel and deceptively practical. And Multimac do list the car as being able to fit their seat units. It's absolutely not an Aston or a Maserati but I think they're great cars, although that may be owner bias (Cue endless comments telling me how I'm wrong... 😋)

@@Metro6am At those prices, when it comes to the V8’s, there’s a chance it’s one that’s been neglected or has issues. The engine can suffer with valve stem seal issues that are quite expensive on labour to repair so it’s a model that absolutely worth paying more. The 630i can be a proper bargain though.

@deaks256 ай бұрын
@@Metro6am The 630i is a safe bet for a bargain, but knowing the 650i and the issues it can have, I don’t recommend the bottom of the market. A nice 630i is going to be a better time than a ropey 645 or 650. The N62 is just too fussy an engine. Obviously there are genuine bargains to be had, but they’re a risk. And I say this as someone who does love my 650i and the N62, even with its flaws, because It is a lovely engine when it’s good. Tbh, the pick of the range is arguably the 635d; can easily be tuned to out pace the V8’s, utterly bullet proof and lots of mpg’s.

Because that driving character, engine and exhaust note , and after a Jag and a couple of BMWs I just didn't feel like anything else spoke to me. Currently doing 700 to 1200 miles a month full of big smiles and I couldn't be happier to see it keep roaring on every time I go to the school run,supermarket, tip run etc. Yes it's a concern if anything goes wrong and yes my petrol bill has headed swiftly north 😅 But so very worth it. Parts cheap due to e class taxis now being scrapped. Don't need specialist mechanic. 5. Reliable 6. Air scarf means that you can drive it top down even when snowy 7. Did you not even open the bonnet before you got it transported?

@@dadcars of course but I was thinking why you didn’t look for yourself first Admittedly that pipe would not be visible from above but as you said yourself you would not have needed to have it transported if you had got straight on it 🤷♂️

It's a pity you have to skip the under £15k pricepoint, but there are still some cool cars available for under £10k. I daresay you already have one lined up, but if not, there is a 2004 RS6 on sale for £8k on Autotrader. The owner claims to have spent £10k on the mechanicals. The front windows don't work and the headlining is sagging, but with your £10k budget you'd have £2k to get the windows and headlining done. Cheers Ben.

The reason why used Maseratis are so cheap is the stupidly high parts prices, they really need to introduce a parts discount for older cars, I know many parts are shared with other makes but some are unique such as suspension components etc which are ridiculously expensive.

I think you should pick up something that can be tuned. Better for content. I don’t think the kids are that into old school grand tourers. There are a few sorted 5.0 Range Rovers for under 10k…
