Rice cartels were just as bad then as today and the government is working hard to curb rice importation. 3. Police still used chalk outlines in crime scenes and carnapping was still a thing. 4. Jose "Don Pepe" Oyson would be eliminated three months later after peddling drugs for decades with impunity. 5. Khmer Rouge was still around at this point and even had a United Nations seat.

The late Angelo Castro Jr. was able to encapsulate flawlessly in 16:55 what “The World Tonight” was: a nightly news presentation of ABS-CBN channel 2 and seen via satellite 📡 nationwide (then domestic until 1994), and who the presenters were. That broadcast was in November 1989. In a month, PH would suffer it’s 6th and worst coup attempt under the 1st Aquino presidency, the first one to last for more than a day.

@@Jaded1221 I have to ask..do you remember that spot about sa mga wanted sa pinas? it was only aired sa hapon..it was either narrated by someone (probably peter musngi) or just written names and their corresponding offenses in a slide show type of style..It had an ominous sounding background music..wala lang bumalik lang sa isip ko..yan at yung veritas ads ang tumatak sa akin..naalala ko kasi it was the only institutional ads na nilalagay nila sa timeslot na yun..i remember watching sine sa dos sa alas dos..yang dalawang yan ang laging nasa commercial lineup. For me it's one of the most obscure abs-cbn "ads"

Uso na ang computerized chargen (character generator) noon para sa tinatawag na keys or lower thirds, ‘yung live text/graphics na nakikita ‘nyo sa TV. At ‘yung over-the-shoulder graphics, ginagawa pa nang mano-mano over cardboard or cartolina na ilalagay sa isang stand o easel, tapos kukunan ng camera (see all the wide shots going to break and at the end of the newscast - may camera sa kanan na hindi nakatutok sa set o sa anchors most of the time…chances are, sa graphic board nakatutok ‘yun), at isu-“superimpose” sa shot ng anchor using the production switcher sa control room.
