I got a nail in a brand new like 2 week old tire on my MT10, definitely wasn't going to toss a brand new tire, so I patched it and the patch still holds half a year later. I do have spare tires just in case though. Found Dunlop Q3's at my local cycle gear for 79 bucks on clearance, bought 2 of them. A patch done right will last.

I'm pretty sure it's just a fuse you can take out. That's how it's turned off in my xsr900 which is the same engine as the mt09. I can't imagine Yamaha made it too different in the mt10.

One thing I really wish Yamaha would do is release an MT-10 with a mechanical throttle and throttle body as an optional model. I think the Ride-by-wire unit is a little glitchy. What do you think Fast boi?
