This is the diagnostic scan tool I used in the video- amzn.to/3DwigeB

I have all those lights on. They came on when my emergency fell apart. I went last week and had the ebrake system replaced plus new rotors. I asked them if the lights went out? He said no, you have a bad abs sensor on the back left. He said they were going to just try and replace it for me, but the bolt snapped off and I think he said the extractor tool snapped off too. So he said they just decided to leave it alone. He said the 4×4 light didn't have anything to do with it, which after reading a bunch of posts, I know is not true. Anyway, what should I do about getting that sensor out? Should I just check around at other shops? It's so hard to know who to trust and I don't want anything tore up worse. Thanks.

Like you, I'm not a professional mechanic but I have always worked on my own vehicles. Learned a lot as a kid from my father. However, that was at a time when auto design was pretty basic, straight forward and no computer components. That said, I've acquired over the years a modest amount of tools. The BEST tool by far has become youTube. It just requires time to find a video that is well created. Yours is one of those EXCELLENT ones. Well filmed, well explained! I have the same indicator lights all going off at the same time (2012 RAM 2500 4x4). The lesser OBDII scan tool I own does indicate wheel speed sensor. I did a little rough driving through some snow while hauling my fifth, got stuck, shifted between 4-low and 4-high, reversing and forward, etc to get traction. It was at that time the same lights as you had, allcame on my dash. I'm going to first check my connections before ordering a new speed sensor. It might be the wiring or connection broke free. But thank you, thank you for producing a well explained quality video! I'm now a subscriber. You are an important tool in my tool box 😉

Wonder if hosing down a wet speed sensor with that magic elixir, brake kleen, would help you when you need it most? Great comment from you.

Great video! You explain well as you do each step and show exactly and clearly what you are doing then give the link for the scanner. Thank you!

Great explanation using your natural talent at explaining stuff. Superior coordination of the steps to take in planning the diagnosis; very helpful to speed up & slow down spinning the lug and other nuts on as you work, and for $15 the new part works. Using the proper torque wrench is critical, but all you need is an economical one. i've been chasing a similar ABS, etc. wiring problem in the ABS circuits of my 2010 FORD Expedition, and this shows me it can be done. Those with a 2010 FORD can put off the diagnosis by taking a cold engine, key-in, the turn it to the dash lights up 3 separate times, then go to key off, then crank it up. Usually get a week that way, but wet roads prevent temporary success. Some use 5 key ons-turn offs, but 3 works for me. Great job on a well-maintained RAM pickup in this excellent video.

Howdy from Texas. GREAT video. I have a 2018 1500 with a chronic SVC 4x4 light. I have a cheapy scanner, but it just gives basic codes with no real diagnostic muscle. So I'm going to try this one out. Thanks for taking the time, all the best to you.

Thank you so much. You are a technician. My lights came up after I went through a water puddle and I hit a palm branch . Within seconds abs , eps and tracking lights came up . I drove home without no issue. I use a small professional scan tool. Auto link AL 329. Unfortunately is not reading any codes. The rear tracking sensor cable was hanging . I hope I can repair it.

Thankyou sir for the time and patience . Very thurough. Ive always said; " We all have devices in our hands, that give us the information/knowledge to do , build, and fix whatever we please , and there is no need for guessing anymore." Why should we GUESS about solutions, when people on youtube(yourself) give us EXACT solutions, backed by informed knowledge, with no guessing involved? Lol. Wish you and yours well. Peace

Video was very well done, I think I understand my problem now. Have a question, if I don't replace the censor will it actually hurt anything I'm on a fixed income hard to afford some parts
@vontrap69426 ай бұрын
I think, and this is from my experience with an ongoing issue, is the wheel speed sensors allow the ABS to function properly. If left it can lead to the brakes locking up as the ABS thinks the car is skidding/losing traction which could be annoying at speed if that happens like it happened to me.

Just so you know, If you don't take care of the small issues when those lights come on. We'll lead to the ecu on your vehicle going into limp mode. That's when the mechanics will tell you that your transmission is bad. The ECU has a counter internally and it must be reset. Has nothing to do with just clearing the codes. example if you let your tranny fluid go low. The ECU will sense this and start a countdown. After 1000 shifts or 2000 miles if the problem is not fixed it will go into limp mode to protect the vehicle. And it must be reset with a factory diagnostics machine. Mechanics know this and know that the public is ignorant to this fact. This is when they start telling you your tranny is bad and needs rebuilt or other problems need replaced because the ECU gives off random codes when they aren't problems.they are the parts that it shuts down to protect the vehicle from being driven at high speeds. Mechanics use these codes to rip you off. An oxygen sensor can cause this. even a simple $30 wheel speed censor. Make sure you have your fluidge changed regularly. And change speed sensors and oxygen sensors every couple years. In other words people are better off owning vehicles with points And a carburetor.

I did this exact same thing on my rear wheel drive ram in the light still didn’t turn off however, when I installed the rear ones I did require a little bit of forceful manipulation meaning a piece of wood to get them in place so perhaps hitting it is caused the light to stay on

hope You can help me out, I just replaced both wheel hub on My 2010 Ram 1500 4x4. Things is now when in LOW Range, the ESP and BAS light comes on, eventhough 4wd keeps working...what could it be?...Does the computer reset itself, should I take My truck and have it scanned?
@pacheco_flw93446 ай бұрын
Nice work man. What happens if you drive it like that?
@kevincrosby17605 ай бұрын
You will have all of the ABS and traction control warning lights on, as well as the ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and BAS (Brake Assist System) warnings. I've read various things, but all seem to agree that your ABS system will be out of service, your Traction Control system will be out of service, and your Cruise Control will not work. If you were to be involved in a serious enough accident that investigators pulled the trouble codes from the computer, it would be immediately obvious that you were operating the vehicle with compromised safety systems, possibly making you 100% liable for the accident regardless of who was at fault.
