If you're having a hard time working out your abs because of a lower back pain that keeps popping out during or after exercising, this ab workout might be the solution for you.
I have specifically chosen 15 exercises that will engage most of your abdominal muscles but won't hurt your back or cause any discomfort on your body (except for the muscles, of course 😜) .
These are great for people with lower back pain because... guess what ? back pain is very often CAUSED by weak abdominal and core muscles that lead to bad posture and other long-term issues with your body.
So, try to stick with these back friendly ab exercises when your back hurts and, in time, after you're comfortable with the progress you've made, gradually include more challenging exercises in your routine.
Remember: working out should be fun (especially if it's supposed to be part of your regular lifestyle). If the pain persists, don't force it. Find the most comfortable exercises in this video and try to repeat them for a while until you've built more strength into your abs.

This class was added to my routine exercises.I love it so much!! The only downside of it being the clams exercise, the one before the last one, I cannot see how to do it correctly and I don't see the purpose of doing it, so I am skipping it every time.😅

Hi Ekaterina! First of all, thank you for appreciating my workout. Regarding the clams exercises: they target the glutes (which together with abs are part of the core muscles). The Glutes work in conjunction with other muscles in the area to support movements and provide strength and balance for the entire body. If you find it too challenging, you could try this exercise instead: begin from the starting position of the clams exercise but instead of doing clams, keep the above leg in a straight-horizontal isometric hold. As a marathon, ultra-runner, and long-distance triathlete, core strength is vital to performance posture when it gets tough out there. However, years of issues with L3-L5 bulging or herniated discs every few months means that many abs/core exercises are inadvisable at best for me. This looks like it'll fill that gap. Will add to my training programme 3 times weekly and see how that helps. Thank you!!

Hey Ali, I'm also running ultras but maximum twice in a year with many shorter races in between 😊 I know that core workouts are fundamental for every runner (that's one of the reasons why I have so many abs & core routines on my channel) but for people experiencing back pain I currently have just two videos. ​@@Joy2Move Hi Joy (guessing), yep, both of those workouts are just fine, but NOT as easy as I thought when first looking though, lol. Added both of them to my weekly training plan from now on. My only slight complaint is keeping up, with my so-I-thought trim 14.5% body fat way exceeding yours (but, +30 odd years on you probably explains much of that). As is clear in my own run videos, I have a bit of a hunched old-man style of running at times (esp. when over 30-40k), so core improvement is where I need to work on for sure. Many thanks for your efforts.

Thank you for this quick routine! I have a slipped disc issue and this is gentle enough for the back. However, I do agree with the other commenter that it is not very neck friendly, can't wait to see if you have a back + neck friendly abs workout!:) cheers.

hello! I must admit that this workout is really lower back pain friendly,,except the last two exercises. Those two are painful for my back....so I escaped 'em...neglecting 'em this workout is awesomeTHX a lot for the vid

Thanks for sharing Alex! Glad to hear you enjoyed the workout 🤗. If the last 2 exercises don't feel comfortable, you can either skip them or replace them with other exercises from the video. When doing the side plank make sure you're actually using the correct form. An easier version would be with keeping your knees on the floor.

The pain in your neck is most likely related to your posture, when you’re dong ab exercises instead of trying to do them quickly take it slow and try to develop a mind-muscle connection, it will help you engage upper abs without your neck hurting! Also instead of rounding your back in exercises try to keep it straight, so that the nerves and muscles in your neck aren’t tightened and constantly tensed! I really hope this helps because I had the same problem a lot.

Ok used to be the same for me but went to phsyio and realized my lower back was lifting from the ground and was taking on all the strain. Maybe try and see if your back is like fully flush to the mat??

Totally agree with you Sarah. I'm not able to provide any medical advice, but proper form is essential to avoid pain and injury. That being said, there might be underlying medical issues if the pain is really that strong as @setitheredcap2677 described it. In his case, if the pain persists, I would recommend a specialized medical check.

I always try and concentrate on pulling my belly button down to the floor with every exercise. That way your back never lifts and it intensifies the burn

The targets of this workout are the main abdominal muscles without putting any pressure on the lower back. It's not specific for the pelvic floor muscles.

Yes, this routine should help you improve your abs and keep your exercise pain free. But don't expect to get "six-packs" without also doing other exercises and making changes to your diet 😉

Not all of them are PSOAS compatible but a lot are. Very nice I had to illegaly downlaod it and cut out the horrible horrible music and paste in a timer sound, so i don't have to watch the screen the whole time.. And i've noticed the terrible music is in alot of them. A shame, cause they are nice and easy to follow.

You would also know that for me, the only way to cover these expenses is by monetizing through YT Ads . And even this horrible music as you call it is not for free. @@Joy2Move I watch your clips and like if they learn me something new, that's all the support someone can get from me.. Not sure what 'dumping content' means.. Everything without lyrics was okish, but the singing is just nonsense.. My suggestion: Leave out the music, but keep the sounded time marks.. Less work, no paying for music, better workout video that everybody can enjoy, no matter their taste/mood of music... We all have or own music when working out anyway. Don't trust me on it, but they would be amazing vids if the music wasn't there... I would have come back to this video(and some others) atleast every othher day for a couple of months if it wasn't for the music.. In the end i have to make it work for me...

Good question! The truth is exercises alone are not enough to help lose weight. The actual solution is a combination of nutrition habits, combining different types of exercises (e.g. strength, cardio, etc.), sleep and other factors (like genetics and metabolic rate). There's no magic exercise or pill to get you there. Just discipline and commitment 😉
