Tito, Vic and Joey contributed much to the success of VST & Co. Most of the popular VST songs was composed & written by them.

@annap8797

@@kuaymoctually, the name VST originally was coined after Tito Sotto’s FULL name (VST) Vicente Sotto the Third. Then they later credited Vic, Val and Spanky when they blew up and became a massive hit. Joey was a co- lyricist on some of the hits, worked on radio, wasn’t an active band player…

@@annap8797 VST & Co. po was originally formed without Marvic yet. He (together with Joey in the songwriting dept.) were welcomed in as a replacement for Jun Medina who left for the US. VST's official meaning is Vicor Special Talent po. The trademark chart toppers of the group of course, were mostly written with lead vocals by Bossing Marvic. A good example of an earlier, pre- & minus Marvic VST & Co. track was Tayo'y Magsayawan which was composed by Charo Unite & Ernie dela Peña.

Naiiyak ako, kasi despite the bad image they throw sa OPM, still, it's thriving.

problema kasi sa ngayun lets face the truth mas priority ang talent o artist kahit di singer papakantahin basta may itsura,,.. sa totoo lang po ah.. di gaya noon mga group performer natin are living in a very small world na ang agenda is to help everyone succeed as a singer or as a band.

VST & CO,The Hotdogs & Boyfriends started this Manila Sound na talagang nag hit naman. Until now I still listen to their songs. Of course,iba naman yung era & style of singing & songs nina Eddie Peregrina,Victor Wood,Edgar Mortiz & Tirso Cruz the 3rd noong late 60's & early 70's. Though naging hit din naman cover songs of Victor Wood & the original song sung by Eddie Peregrina,yung Two Lovely Flowers. Sayang at pumanaw si Eddie P when he was only 32 na kasikatan nya noon. Gaganda ng retro or manila sound. Boyfriends,cinderella,vst and company,labuyo atbp. Dito mga orig compositions nila at dito rin natalo ng opm songs ang mga foreign songs,the golden era of our music. Tito,vic and joey or the TVJ ay malaki ang naging naiambag sa manila sound because most of the songs of their group are compose by them.

OPM term is being use loosely nowadays.

If we listen carefully, the manila sound is a “me too” psuedo disco pop music genre patterned after the western bands like beegees et al. The only difference is the lyrics are in tagalog. Agree some like hotdogs, boyfriends and vst came up with 1, 2, 3 songs that are original, the vast majority are still our pinoy version of a foreign culture spreading across the world.

There are many OPM albums available on iTunes for purchase or you can subscribe to Apple Music streaming for $10/month and you can get access to all iTunes albums. I do family subscription ($15/month) so all of us can have access. Do your search “Basil”, “Manila Sound”, “Valera”, “the Company”, “New Minstrels”, etc. You won’t be disappointed. Also, you can do a free trial with Apple Music for 3 months.
