Make it like DMC5 Legendary Knights. Keep the difficulty at a good challenging range like substantial, but triple the hordes and extermins, and double the terminus each encounter.

A single mistake in lethal is already enough to take out all your armor and half of your health, increasing damage would turn everything into a oneshot mechanic. My power sword already hits like a wet noodle, increasing enemy health would turn every enemy into a bullet sponge. they could increase the number of enemies maybe? I guess much depends on what the prestige ranks will be. IF we'll have significantly more health and damage ok sure, increase enemy health/damage, but if the prestige ranks are those that have been leaked a few weeks ago, then I don't know how I'll be able to clear absolute difficulty, particularly chaos missions. We don't know either if the new cosmetic rewards require just a single absolute mission (like the power sword) or all of them ( like the helmet).

A cool idea if modifiers were like darktide ‘ the Hive Mind has changed their tactics prepare for increased Tyranid activity’ and the modifier would increase gaunts with adrenal glands, reduce the amount of majoris enemies but increase their reinforcement timer and decrease the time it takes for them to call. So you’re going against hundreds and hundreds of Nids. Or maybe ‘ The arch Traitors draw on the powers of their gods beware the taint of chaos’ and you’d have a sorcerer spawning in more daemons same concept as before but reduce their health by 20%. So modifiers could be increased spawn rates but decreased health or decreased spawn rates increased damage. Maybe? Or a modifiers like I’ve said above but the bonus to squad cohesion is mitagating effects so if you’re in cohesion maybe their call timer increases or you get a buff to ammo and reload speed to help with the hordes. Cool concept. So basically, modifier - enemy spawn rates on minoris tripled, reload speed increased whilst in cohesion Or - gun strikes give ammo instead of armour Just thinking out loud

2 friends and I got SM2 in December and about a week ago beat all missions on lethal. The only mission we failed was Reliquary. You're absolutely right about it feeling like a higher difficulty 😅.

My idea of what Absolute should be: Triple extremis spawn is back with maybe shorter cooldown, potentially two terminus spawns per mission with one guaranteed (but not two at the same time, and also count into that the end level bosses so that Decapitation, Reliquary, and Termination still only have one terminus spawn minus the end level one), up to three majoris can be enraged at any given time instead of only one, introduce enrage for extremis (with only one potentially enraged at any given time), even more reinforcement call attempts, with a successful call guaranteeing one extremis enemy spawning, even longer respawn timer or no time reduction from majoris+ kills, maybe further nerfing ammo crates size (instead of 3x max ammo only 2x or sth like that). What I think should be left as-is are player armor and health, and enemy health and damage. At this point many weapons have okay time to kill but weapons like the auto bolt rifle still need some buffs to have a purpose. And melee combat still requires some changes because it is way too passive. On the enemies side they already do enough damage to take all your armor + half your health in one hit, a further increase would be unfair.

I’m sure it’ll be light work. Lethal is all I run with my buddy and we almost never go down or lose games. If they up the amount of spore mines during large fights tho, I’m in trouble.

Hopefully they don't go nerfing Absolute difficulty prematurely. The goal seems to be introducing modifiers and such so the difficulty introduces a chaos factor or forces a play style change. Coming out in early Feb so we'll have our confirmation pretty soon. Lot of incoming player buffs too. 6.0 class perks being buffed, some weapons buffed. Will be able to trade up for relic data. 3 new weapons in coming 7.0 more weapon buffs, weapon perk buffs and prestige which are a huge class bump in power (Grenade launcher getting nerfed in some way sometime)

I've been suggesting they explore injury modifiers for difficulty. Taking a significant hit could mean losing ADS, slower aiming, run walk/run speed halved to simulate limping, halved attack speed, and etc for the rest of the mission. Or a weapon breaking or getting lost, different poison effects that last the entire mission. If you've read the novels, you'd know it all of the above to happen on a battlefield. I'm also a big fan of Dante Must Die mode from DMC. Everything can kill in one or three hits equally, both the player and the enemy.

I think my biggest issue is just that another difficulty seems like a waste in man power and resources. Another new difficulty isn’t what’s gonna make the game exciting again for majority of players. I beat Lethal so I could get the cosmetics, but I didn’t really have fun doing it. It was such a relief to play the game on ruthless and just enjoy the game. The enemies were still dangerous, but one mistake wasn’t all three of my armors and half of my health. Games are supposed to be fun, sweating is good sometimes don’t get me wrong. But I think sweating cause you’re drastically weaker than half the things you have to fight is artificial difficulty and I don’t really enjoy being weak and feeling like all my time and effort into growing lvl’s and building my character is irrelevant to 3 flying spores lol

I think it’s also important to realize that just because we don’t want a new difficulty level doesn’t mean we can’t clear lethal. I primarily do lethal missions. I just don’t see the need for another difficulty before they get these perk changes in and prestige system in.

I think it’s just going to be like when the AI director went crazy and you had a triple extremis spawn during a terminus fight. Probably multiple terminus enemies throughout a level. Bigger swarms, etc. I’m ready, it’s time to deliver the wrath of the Emperor.

given that after the "cohesion" stuff was removed lethal difficulty was mainly uncapping the extremis spawn limit i assume that the new difficulty is most likely to increase the spawn rates, spawn ammounts, and spawn likelihood of higher difficulty foes such as extremis and majoris, likely meaning overall more elite hordes with less minoris... however i would rather they instead simply increased ammount of minoris and majoris by like 4 or 5 times so that we have bigger swarms without being swarmed by scarab terminators (worst chaos foe) or swarmed by zoanthropes (worst tyranid foe)

Have you noticed that the snipers and lethal will often double tap you? This happens already, but imagine if they triple tap snipers would be lethal because you wouldn’t be able to roll out the way as you would come up in the middle of the third shot, you would have to roll into cover only or behind something to obscure the shot

The devs just weren’t smart with HOW they added things. For example, the disk shamans (in my opinion) should have been locked only to substantial difficulty and higher. That way,playing on average and minimal has a distinctly different gameplay than the other difficulties, apart from health bars, number of enemies, and damage. Having the same enemies across all difficulties, especially for the tyranids, muddies the waters and makes increasing the difficulty harder. Like at this point, unless we get new enemies, they’re just gonna turn players in glass cannons fighting hoards of bullet sponges then saying “this is harder than before, trust us.”

Three Terminus per with two being guaranteed. 3 extremis squad Lictors supposedly hunt alone so, maybe one lictor with a squad of Majoris Maybe make the stims more useful, maybe a few decimal points of healing per second for 3/5 seconds after healing the normal amount that heals on Ruthless Bigger waves, like 7 to 9 Majoris with a horde of Minoris all the time, relax with the disk shamans tho because wtf Better team synergy, like making the area scanned by a tactical buff a Sniper shot or increase his damage while invisible Make a Vanguard go invisible at random when using the grapnel if the spinner has full health but the cloak is depleted or unusable Make both shields for Heavy and Bullwark last more if they’re both at 50% health (just an idea) Heavy having a rocket launcher 👀

Ramp up enemy health and damage and have a modifier like Unit Cohesion to where it buffs team health, damage, and armor (thinking like the feeling we had with the banner mission in story). Make it to where the modifier isn't a requirement (you still maintain your base stats and armor regen but it will encourage you to work in cohesion to survive).

I would have expected neurolictors, deathleapers and swarmlords. Maybe a mordax... Imagine if your team mate goes down and you can get get them up fast enough they turn into the rippers and other fun stuff. Permadeath. Been watching the clips in your videos, I think I figured out the reason for the enemies spawning on you. You're going too fast for the engine/director. The lags and such make it so that it's spawning things on top of the players.

Ruthless is where I like to play. I beat lethal on solo once and never went back. I doubt I'll bother with absolute unless I really like the cosmetics.

I can't imagine they will mess with spawns, they would have gone through performance tests and settled with what works best. Plus it would probably be a fair bit of work. We all know how devs tend to do as little as they can for maximum effect, so think of the easiest way to make the game difficult and you probably won't be far off. I would go with no stims or a contested health change. I have had zero stim lethal runs, so it's possible. You need to bring your absolute best to the table. That kind of fits the difficulties name.

I was the one that wrote about modifiers - you could do tons of different things. * enemies call reinforcements more often and faster; * enemies do more damage; * enemies no longer show attack indicators; * no hud; * ammo is reduced; * minoris no longer give armor. You could go as far as you want.

it's absolutely clear to me that someone don't play on ruthless if they want no indicators, which completely goes against the spirit of a power fantasy SM franchise is about... why no 2 terminuses at once? there's 3 players, so in fact there SHOULD BE 3. it'd finally fix the issue of players interrupting my duel with a terminus. everyone gets THEIR OWN. if the 3rd player (or bot) already feels so much like an unneeded bother (which steals the attention of your targets away from you) you cannot get away from in public matches, why add the 4TH ONE?

Currently the difficulty comes almost entirely from the carry-me brainrot kids loading into missions they have no business loading in to looking for free carries. I'm praying that the new difficulty prevents carries in some way, like if you go down with a mortal wound, you go back to the barge and get nothing while the other 2 continue alone (no backfill either to prevent cheese).

I run every day a chaos conditioning operation on ruthless solo. It is obelisk. The reason why is because that operation will throw everything chaos as to offer at you within the first 10 minutes from mobs to extremis to the helbrute. How do you think I got good enough to solo him without taking damage? You want to run the operation until the tomb and then restart it. I do this once a day until I fight the helbrute without taking damage on ruthless and then go back to tyranid operations. I expressed my opinions on the new difficulty in your previous video call my I hope it is all about modifiers and adapting to substantially increased power due to the Prestige classes. I am not bad at the game, I am surely not a pro even though I can likely bulwark with the best by now and I know you can see I have my lethal helmet but I really do not want each season or each other season to be highlighted by yet another even sweatier level of difficulty. Just add more contents, more mechanics, new things as opposed to artificially increasing the difficulty in arbitrary ways. Just my two cents

Game isn't fun anyway. Becomes so frustrating on high difficulties. Instead of more enemies or more bigger enemies (like in Helldivers), they just became bullet sponges. I mean: 50bullets from the Heavy Bolter ON the head of a major tyrannid and that thing isn't dead?!? Yeah, totally ruins my immersion I am playing a Space Marine with a devestating gun.🤦🏻♂️

You should fear higher difficulties. Makes those compelled to overcome them feel extra satisfied when they do. I mean it's why the souls series is loved, it's why people like nightmare difficulty in doom. Legendary in halo, and why people wish there was a higher difficulty for games like pokemon. Not every one wants challenge, but those of us that do greet it with a smile.

New weapons ? No, one new weapon. And as ot stand its not that important if the weapon is so underpowered like most bolt weapon and are never played. I play almost only lethal, and i never see a tac without the launcher or a vanguard without the melta. We have enough weapon. But they are not all worth using
