The story of Xu Xiaodong should be used as an example of being an "agent of change," it is very difficult for people to change. Especially old men, who are set in their ways, who have dedicated much of their lives training their particular martial arts. After all old habits die hard and egos bruise easily until they are humbled and they must be eager to learn. Fortunately, the head master of the karate dojo where I trained, encouraged me to learn another martial art after I earned my 1st degree black belt. I signed up in a mixed martial arts gym where my senpai said not to go because he said, "it is filled with killers." I knew that I had to go and check it out, and it has been one year since I first walked through the front door and I am still training there.

Funny how in the Ip Man movies, the Chinese Kung fu master is humble and often beaten down and oppressed before going up against his opponent and having the odds stacked against him by those in charge, but ultimately winning against their opponent anyways with their superior skill and discipline. ...and then in reality, Xu Xiaodong had his own government treat him like the villains do in those movies. Because communists are great at projection and accusing their enemies of doing everything they do themselves, to look good
@libRteedude2 жыл бұрын
I like the Ip Man movies, but yeah they project SUPER hard. Any foreigner is the worst person ever or at least up to no good, and even Chinese villains/bullies are revealed to actually be righteous deep down. And the fourth movie did nothing but complain about America's racism, even though the Chinese are committing an active genocide.
