This isn't a sponsored post BUT I do get the same $5 bonus you get if you take a class. learnfz.com/italki. Also be sure to check out FromZero.com to get our five "Japanese From Zero!" courses.

Hello Talk made me depressed, no one wanted to talk to me as I am not a native English speaker. Italki was better but it's not easy to find a good teacher at a reasonable price.

Imagine being a native English speaker and no one wanting to talk to you in English, and just use to to practice their broken English and show off.

We have a Japanese language Meetup group where I'm from. I've been to a few of the meetups. The last one I went to I left early. It says in their group description that they welcome all levels of speakers. I noticed three things. You have to be really good at Japanese, young, and female or no one wants to talk to you or try to help you learn. I use Hello Talk just to listen but when you go into the English/Japanese rooms, everyone wants to just speak English.

That’s why I’m recommending iTalki and not HelloTalk.

I'm not sure if this would be a good suggestion. It's worth a try if you have a VR headset or in desktop mode with a microphone you could try VR chat. There are some groups in there that teach Japanese and to speak in Japanese with others. Talk to other Japanese that are on there. Have a great day😀

Idk if you guys feel it, but sometimes I'm almost sure that you english speakers live in the world made for you, everybody wants to learn english, also everybody wants an american friend, and when you aren't able to speak english, I'd say that almost all the doors are closed to you, especially when we talk about to make friends.

nice topic choice George! I love this topic as I believe it's something many struggle with it- especially with the timezone difference! small sidenote for people with long hair as person with long hair myself, if you're going to Japan and a girl finds your hair attractive, she's probably not in that "japanese society normality bubble", aka might be a bit westernized or has a kink for long hair / western guys, you might thing that's a bad thing but it's actually easier to talk to those people X)

I recently deleted Hello Talk because they started sending me push notifications that were straight up lies and ads.

You get banned (like me) if the moderators (all Chinese) interpret you as ‘hitting on their girl’ - any particular Japanese woman that you’re remotely nice to. They’re pathetic.

@@JohnM... No the moderators are Israelis not Chinese.

@JohnM... I know this because I'm an Arab and when I clicked on an Israelis profile, (he was really popular so I'm assuming he's a mod) I got banned the next day for doing absolutely nothing.

@@japanesefromzero I dont wear cologne ! Hmmm, maybe thats why.....
@SonarHD3 ай бұрын
Japanese people don’t like smells, whether it’s good (too much cologne) or bad (you stink). Just use soap and water, and shower every day. Easy!! That’s why I have several Japanese friends (mostly women too! ❤). 😅
