This traditional Ethiopian wedding is the one I can relate to out of all the other ethnic wedding ceremonies I’ve watched. It’s not crazy lavish or excessive. It honors the Christian faith which I uphold as well. The bride and groom truly look like kings and queen.

As an Ethiopian living in the US, the wedding brought so much memories about our culture and tradition; the wedding is a replay of relatives and friends wedding and everything in between I witnessed growing up. Well documented !! and congratulations to the newly wed. እግዚአብሔር ትዳራችሁን በፍቅር: በደስታ: በሰላም እና በእምነት: ይባርከው🙏

Mimi and Kassay may your marriage be blessed. You are mist amazing ethiopian I have ever seen mainly how you embraced the culture. I must say this wedding is the most representing as authentic as it can be. The groom to stay away from his wife until the wedding day? My God no other groom ever ever display this kind of manner these days. Kassay you are a true gentleman. You need to be recognized as an exemplary to others. You are the real deal, a true descendant of the axumite empire. I am impressed how you hold on to our tradition, your patients, waiting as an engaged man keeping your fiancee, your deep committed love to mimi is amazing. Equally, I am touched how calm and serene mimi is respecting and waiting for her fiancee till the wedding day comes. Everything is done according to how how parents got married. Bless you! I pray this tradition continues.

Gifts are not a show off. It's considered dowry that's is a token of appreciation to the parents of the bride and bride to be. It's tradition that we practice from our ancestors. In some African cultures like in Uganda alot of expensive gifts are offered. But it depends what your groom can offer, something that is agreed upon between two families.

Mimi & Kassay should be the face of the Ethiopian Tewahedo Orthodox church marriage guidelines. As you know we are facing a great deal of attack on our monasteries and churches with this evil Prosperity government and our priorities lies on holding on to our religion faithfully. You both are so mature for your age and may you continue receive guidance from our Lord above.

These elements are not merely attributes; they are the very threads woven into the tapestry that forms the soul of Ethiopian identity. From Getachew Reda (Editor Ethiopian Semay) - I lift up my hat for the groom. As he is from my hometown Axum, I am surprised by his good Ethiopian faith and tradition he and his friends demonstrated during this astonishing wedding without being polluted by the narrow extremist Tigrayan TPLF culture, that we are familiar with their political flag and violence and chaotic political songs during many Tigrayan weddings. I really gave the Groom and his friends excellent remark for keeping the gentle Ethiopianess culture and different ethnic dances alive during the wedding they played. I hope all Tigrayans follow such beautiful wedding without polluting political songs during weddings. Best wishes to the bride and the groom. I am proud of you all and the participant friends. Bless you both!!! Getachew Reda (Editor Ethiopian Semay)
