Ol lance had a swarm move into his house and made themselves at home. It's crazy how fast they build comb! The entrance with the queen excluder was made by Blaine @TexasBeekeeper very helpful entrance we use during swarm season.

One of my favorite things about keeping bees is seeing that brand new pure white comb.

Just starting to watch your video. I have always caught my own swarms in my apiary and been on call for a swarm hotline thru our beekeeping club. One day in the past I got 5 swarm calls down from the hills where I live down to the valley city with residential homes. After being well ready with made before hand clean scrapped 10 frame deep with bottom boards nailed on and with straps to hold it all together after attempting to collect the 5 swarms. I proceeded by the first second and so on calls in that order. Towards the afternoon I pull up to a nice home in a neighborhood only to see an exterminator truck in the street with a coiled hose going into a side gate around the corner of a garage. There was a side entrance door in the back yard with a wide cement walkway in this spot. The swarm had clustered on top of an outside light up to the right on the wall above the door, just like the door you walked up to in your video. To my dismay the worker had just poured a gallon plastic jar of powdered poison on it killing 95% of these beautiful orange swarm of Italian honeybees. Made me sick metaphorically. If only I had shown up right at first for this was the biggest easiest swarm I could have collected that day. The owner was out of town, maybe vacationing and it was a frightful neighbor who had called his out-of-town and then he called an exterminator to just get rid of it thinking someone could get stung. What a waste. I would have given a quart jar of honey or given the owner a little money for that swarm. I asked the exterminator how much, this was 10 - 15 years ago, and he said his company charges $200.00 to kill, spray down, and clean up the foot high of dead bees laying on the ground outside. Not a great end of day for me or the beneficial honeybees to other people's gardens and fruit trees I believe. 🐝

Yessir, they just about filled that cavity. Thankfully they were a very gentle bunch of bees. Lance has got himself a fine place, he's got 80 acres there. We enjoy going to his place and working the bees. Hannah was in her happy place! Thank ya much Don for dropping by and God bless.

Hannah has a nice touch with the that vacuum. I'm a bit clumsy. Are you certain the queen is mated? You might not want that excluder entrance on there too long.
@gunlinebees.38312 ай бұрын
In her world she doesn't want to hurt any bees. She will not hardly let me run that the Everything Bee Vac. I get the hint... that's her job, I'm just the hired help. She very much loves Beekeeping! It's a laying queen we ended up finding her off camera. Then yesterday Lance called back and had another swarm we got and she was a healthy girl!

Just resubbed to your channel. KZbin must have unsubbed me. I was wondering why I haven't been getting notifications. Awesome job! I did a cutout last Sunday that took 10 hrs. I collected between 8 to 10 pounds of bees. Thanks!

Thank ya brother for hitting the subscriber button again! If we had waited a week this bunch would have turned into several hours, especially dealing with all that tender comb. Thankfully from the time we started removing lap siding to emptying the vac, it was an hour and a half. Ain't gonna lie... neither Hannah or I had it in us to pull a 10 hour day that day. After doing a few cutouts now ourselves, we fully understand why one must charge to do them. It's some work that's for sure!

We think they lucked up with the privet starting to bloom and that helped them build out so fast. If we had waited a week to get them, it would have been a job with all that tender comb. Thank ya much Keith for all the support! Y'all have a blessed day.

Watching this, it got me thinking that honey bees can be a pest at times... finding a way in and making a mess. Kinda like Carpenter ants, roaches, mice, and flying squirrels.
@gunlinebees.38312 ай бұрын
Agreed.... They could be an aggravation having to remove brick freeze, soffit and all that mess, then you gotta put it back together. At the same time, the reward of getting paid and getting bees is worth it. Sometimes! 😁
