SVG has conquered THE MOUNTAIN - Mt Panorama, Bathurst, Australia ... I'm not really too surprised he won this

He could win Bathurst and Daytona.

Scary thing is that half the top tier V8 Supercar drivers have similar talent on road courses. Although even in that field Gizzy is next level!

Actually I made a mistake he did not win. It is a very hard series to do well

It was a perfect distillation of how he races. That pass for the win was vintage Gizz. So incredibly happy that I got to be there for it!

@nomadman5288 It won't take him long to work out the Ovals Nomadman. He has a Resume many drivers around the world🌎 would look at with Envy. I'm pretty sure he is ranked in the top 10 drivers in the World as well? Perhaps I'm wrong? Across several disciplines he has won races in different classes and vehicles. He is a Natural talented wheel man. You might even become a fan my friend? Take care Love from New Zealand

That car was fast ... Never seen a car drive itself ... It was driven by the best driver in the field ...When he comes to Nascar there'll be more winning by the Gizz ... 🇳🇿

Best road racer. We should be clear on that and not get carried away.

SVG's only experience solely turning left is on dirt in sprint cars. He's also had success in rally cars, GT, single seaters, RC cars, farm bikes. Would be interesting to see a full season on the ovals. But if it's got four wheels, I'd never bet against SVG.

haha fr, the driver was fast. totally in control. that was the point of difference in this race. chea

Hey guys, Hi from Canberra Australia. Kudos 👏 for the honest and articulate appraisal of this event. It was an historical moment without a doubt and one I will never forget. I've been watching Nascar since Marcos Ambrose the legend joined your leagues and have basically followed USA motorsport since then and due to the likes of Scott Dixon and Will Power in Indycar it makes for a pretty good gang to cheer on. We here and countries like Finland are countries over-represented in terms of population in elite world motorsport and its something we can be proud of. As to the race, WOW. Granted he was on better rubber than the few at the front but he re-started behind those he was racing after the strategy played out. Ie. He was on the bad strategy and behind guys like Bell, Larson and Reddick. Amazing. You guys should watch Townsville this weekend, he will be back behind the wheel on again the other side of the car and shift with the wrong hand. What a freaking champion. SHANE VAN GISBURGER! Wtf America? Love you guys but you have the likes of BK of RFK and AJ.......just sound it out. Lmao. And get Scotty Mac from Penske in a NASCAR!

Thank you Ryan! I can tell you plenty of people here in the US feel the same way. Supercars fans should be proud of what SVG did on Sunday.

Shane had his fair share of race wins over Scotty too, plus he won the Championship in 2016 while Scotty was racing as well. Scotty was always an excellent driver, but really became legendary once DJR merged with Penske. I don't put Scotty ahead of SVG or vice versa... I think they are on the same level. Would be interesting to see them race again now though. :)

The best part is when SVG wins a race. His celebrations are right up there. Burnouts and drift the whole track if he wanted too. Hes also a pro drifter. U should check out his drift video with Redbull racing on KZbin

The cars are so different.. a Cup car is 550lbs heavier..it has an open differential..V8 Supercar has a locked diff..The cup car has ground effects aero..V8 Supercar has 'over the body' aero..Cup car has to throttle lift on up changes..V8 Supercar is full throttle 'flate change' process..the cars are way different from each other. As well changing gears with his right hand instead of his left hand with a throttle lift between shifts is bigtime tough on the historic neural programming he has built over his entire racing career. SVG admitted he isn't really interested in the big oval tracks because it would take him too long to learn that type of racing technique and 'every' Cup driver knows that technique so well that they would be just tough to beat.. he said the smaller ovals like Richmond and Bristol he would like to try though. SVG is very cognisant of how good the Cup drivers are on the ovals and how racing at 190 mph lap averages is second nature to them .. I think SVG could be competitive after a while on the big oval tracks.. but not dominate like he can on a road/street course .. SVG would be as good on the Cup road courses as he was on the Chicago street course because the Cup road courses are much more open in the corners than are in Australian/New Zealand road courses.. Road America would suit SVG perfectly.. because the track is so much wider and more flowing than the V8 Supercar tracks . The Cup drivers were unusually timid in the Chicago race .. normal Cup racing is super aggressive because the drivers know exactly what they can get away with on the tracks they race on regularly .. the Chicago track was a shock to the Cup drivers because of its enclosed type layout. I hope SVG gets to race the Cup guys on their home turf tracks soon.. he won't dominate as he did on the Chicago street course .. but he will I think never the less be competitive ...and always entertaining.

In not sure why some ppl are so prisoner of the moment. When one of the best road racers in the world races in any series, he's probably gonna have a shot to win, and when the series that driver come from drives cars relatively similar, the odds go up even more. It was kind of the perfect storm. I'd be interested to see him at Watkins Glen, a totally different type of road course and one that the other drivers have done before, and on an oval.

Except the nascar guys don’t tend to do the same thing when they co-drive in the Supercars

Now imagine how much better and faster Shane could be if they were to cater to his dominant side and custom built a car for him with a right hand side steering wheel with stick shift on his left side? he would have been more beast and at the very least another couple of seconds faster. Not to mention he said it himself he ''left a lot on the table'' as he wasn't fully comfortable with the brake pedal set up as well as other aspects of the car he couldn't have as he would have wanted. And he is currently in 4th ranked place for championship points and maybe 8th-9th rank overall in terms of skill at the moment IMO.

Think your guys will go back to and improve their own heel and toe driving for next years road courses, big advantage of it it deeper braking as using all 3 pedals on downshift reduces wheel hop. All supercars drivers use it, with our new gen cars they proposed a different tranny setup that would eliminate the need to heel and toe and the drivers and teams rejected it to stay as they were.
@bcschneider53 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm sure all the NASCAR regulars will go back and have a look at Shane's telemetry to see how they can improve.

NASCAR journalists and ex drivers make me laugh. You guys drive a spec bus on ovals in perfect weather. Even when you road course at the Glen, you turn that amazing track into a modified oval. Then a real road racer blows away the field in damp not even wet weather and your shocked. Get off your private jets and helicopters, take some tutoring and maybe next time you won’t be embarrassed. Pretty funny actually.
@bcschneider53 Жыл бұрын
Road ringers have been coming to NASCAR since its inception and this is the first time one of them has won a CUP race since the 1970s. SVG was also the first to win on debut since 1963. It may not have been SHOCKING but you cannot deny the historical precedence made it hard to EXPECT. We all gave SVG our props for this tremendous accomplishment and acknowledged what an amazing talent he is. If your main takeaway after watching this segment is to tell us to "take some tutoring," you might be the one who needs to keep a more open mind...
@bcschneider53 Жыл бұрын
Also, no, cutting the boot does not make the Glen "a modified oval."
@shiftygirl6434 Жыл бұрын
don't tell me they cut that hairpin bit off ?
@vitoaugello1677 Жыл бұрын
@@bcschneider53 and yes it is a modified oval. And yes road course ringers have been used in the past, but points were given to cars or teams not drivers so effectively no driver didn’t lose any. NASCAR realizing that fans are waning decided to basically use a fat overweight GT3 and some real road courses to boost fans and sponsors. And don’t go nuts like the media suggests, garage 56 at LeMans was not a Cup car. If that body adhered to GTE rules probably would have come last. Other than Daytona it’s a dead Motorsports, with the silly rules in place. Stoppages, specifies pit stops…etc. Listen, drivers are drivers and if you never drive in bad conditions of course your gonna suck. Take your medicine and move on.
@bcschneider53 Жыл бұрын
@@vitoaugello1677 It literally has left and right corners. Is it a fast road course? Yes. That does not make it a "modified oval." And what does the Garage 56 car have to do with this? Who cares if it finished last anyway? The whole point of the entry is to experiment for innovation. Of course it was going to be modified from a typical Cup car.

Giz is a champion driver, but he's far from the best driver in the history of V8 Supercars. He wouldn't make top 10 tbh. p.s its pronounced Van G (hard g, as in 'great') iz-burgen
