We’ve had 4th officials/video refs in cricket for 20+ years and to a lesser extent in rugby (where you can hear the video refs reasoning and process). It absolutely boggles my mind that a sport as big as football is only just starting to do this. They could seriously learn a lot from how other sports do it.

To not point at the poor officiating gives the green light for the the PGMOL to continue to throw a spanner into the works of there season. Thats 2 games in a row the opposition should have had a man sent off. De ligt didnt recieve his second yellow card for deliberate hand ball in the penalty box. As poor as they played Liverpool they still did enough to take home a draw only for the offiating to influence the result. Reguardless of the performance the result was influenced and your saying forget about it. What your saying makes no sense.

If a player goes off the field for treatment due to an incident deemed to be a foul, the player that committed the foul should also be required to leave the field. The game would then be 10v10 until treatment ends or a sub comes on

Spot on Andy, you said everything I thought. It was a loss, we weren't on it and the Man U match was similar. Take nothing away from Spurs, it was a good game for them. I thought Johnson's challenge just before Bergval got the yellow was what triggered the ref, and it was he that should have been punished. Only I'm really cheesed off about was that 30 second rule on returning players. It seems LFC are involved in every bloody single rule in the book, and it almost always has a significant effect on the result. I hope the lads kick on and find their mojo again to destroy Forest. One of the main take aways for me is that we are missing Szoboszlai immensely in the last 2 matches. Yes, hos goals + assists are not high, but we always dip in performance when he's not there. I love Curtis, and he is a great middielder, but he just doesnt have that gegenpress engine like Szobo. What's new, ref's were shite haha I will take a loss in this competition, could honestly care less about the mickey mouse minataur cup. On to the next one. YNWA

I think the ref announcements after a VAR decision will be more interesting when it’s not an offside. Particularly if there is another incident in the build up to a goal. Maybe a foul that wasn’t picked up by the ref. I’m still waiting for the delayed penalty decision when the offending team has already gone up the other end and scored and VAR brings it back for a dodgy pen.

Andy - Ive been a Liverpool supporter all my life (62) n counting. Strange comment coming up! I have never been so worried/concerned about what is happening at the club. As it stands we will be without 4 first team players next season in Mo/Trent/Virg and Bekker because Mamardashvili hasnt been bought to warm the beach. On top of this there are concerns over Diaz and Nunez not signing contracts or just not up to the Premier league! Also (sorry) I dont like the fact that Arne is a coach and not a manager. Hughes has been terrible so far and while he cant be blamed for three being in their last six months he will know they need replacing. Omar Marmoush would be a good fit and he wants to play for Liverpool so...Oh almost forgot...Doak is also leaving! Have a great NY ;-)

Seen a lot of people call the first yellow for Bergvall soft, but it's one of those where the first Spurs player slides in and fouls him, ref lets it go on to see if there's an advantage, so then Bergvall knows it's coming back even if his tackle is clean, and just flies in not caring if he gets the ball or not. We need to move the ball a lot faster to carve open defenses, thats our achilles heel, we can do it but so often we dont, instead we pass it around more than we need to make sure that every opposition player is back in their penalty box and then we mess it up, we do that often against deep sitting teams and team that are defensively strong and spurs were good in defense yesterday. We never looked like scoring. I wasn't annoyed at the ref or the goal conceded. But our play style yesterday was a continuation of Sunday and thats what bothered me, it was so messy, why? Curtis again so so so bad at the build up. Nottingham is going to be defensively strong and if we dont score, they are going to hit us on a counter and these days I would not even bet 1 pound that we can keep a clean sheet. Hope we get our mojo back cus the last 2 games were dreadful to watch. Also, inside the penalty box, just take a shot, we don^t need to have every player touch the bal before we shoot it at a random opposition player, tsimikas yesterday could have just shot it when he was inside the penalty box with only the goalkeeper in the way but instead passed it to mo and I just don't know why, he was in a better position to score.

The result is…whatever. Fairly confident we’ll turn it around at Anfield though I’d prefer 0-0 going in, obviously. It’s the performance that’s really concerning. With Szoboszlai out sick and now Quansah going down sick, I’m starting to wonder if their overall malaise/lack of energy could be attributed to something going around rather than just poor form.
