Clive was the resident commentator at Radio City in Liverpool in the late 70's and 80's. I associate Clive's voice with arguably the best period in the history of LFC. His voice hasn't changed one jot. Great guy, brilliant interview. Thanks, Andy ❤YNWA

The only question not asked was about commentator bias. Tyler has a lot to answer for. Andy, what a scoop, Clive is a legend, very straight and honest. Met him loads of times. Cup winners cup semi final 1997.... PSG... I was at Anfield for the 2nd leg. It was one of the best nights in LFC history but we only won 2 - 0 so its been sidetracked as we didnt get the score required. But it was insane in Anfield that night. Boat and bus from Dublin to Liverpool and back in 24 hrs. Didnt sleep a wink... lol.. Great idea to interview Clive.

Genuinely deep, warm, thoughtful interview with a guy I’ve listened to for decades. ‘Hello ! hello!’ ….. Wasn’t expecting that !. My earliest memories of really noticing a commentary was listening to a transistor radio (ask your grandparents) as the late great Peter Jones commentated on Liverpool games mid week on radio 2. More of this sort of thing !

Not only is Clive a top commentator but also a great bloke too. One of the very few people that gave me the time of day on social media, for me it says a lot about someones character when they respond to you. How he isn't doing regular mainstream commentating is beyond me and he was right about that commentary trio the other day, it was far better when he and Ally were doing it.

Great catch! Well done Andy. We’re fortunate to have decent match commentary in England. Living in Germany I’m forced sometimes to listen to abysmal commentary. When there’s an option (sky) to switch to English I always do it. The worst English commentary comes from the American networks.
