What an enormous aircraft! Watch as perform a rolling departure from runway 18 and lift off to the South before turning West! We needed every inch of runway space to get airborne! Fantastic Rolls Royce Trent 900 engine sound as we slowly climb higher and higher! Listen for the two cabin announcements: one in German and one in English! There are actually 3 total A380's in this video: one taxiing behind us about to depart for New York City, one which had just landed on Runway 25L in the distance and the one we're flying on! You can also see an Airbus A330 from Air Canada and Lufthansa waiting in line for takeoff! Notice how the inboard engine nosecone is painted yellow, while the outboard engine nosecone is painted white?!? Unusually warm weather in Frankfurt today as temperatures reached 86 degrees Fahrenheit/30 degrees Celsius! Excellent flying weather! Gorgeous green countryside below! Excellent service on board! Look at that wingspan! Filmed from the Economy Cabin on board Lufthansa! Flight 462 to Miami. 5/22/14.
? Ungewöhnlich warmes Wetter heute in Frankfurt , da die Temperaturen erreichen 86 Grad Fahrenheit/30 Grad Celsius ! Hervorragende Flugwetter ! Wunderschöne grüne Landschaft unten! The Pilot is hardly running those massive engines. With so much wing area for lift you don't have to push them very hard at all. She's a beautiful piece of engineering no doubt! Below is the some info on these awesome engines: The Trent 900 family powers the Airbus A380. It comes in two thrust ratings for the A380, 310 kN (70,000 lbf) and 320 kN (72,000 lbf) but is capable of achieving 360 kN (81,000 lbf). It features a significant amount of technology inherited from the 8104 demonstrator including its 2.95 m (116 in) diameter swept-back fan which provides greater thrust for the same engine size, and is also about 15 percent lighter than previous wide-chord blades. It is also the first member of the Trent family to feature a contra-rotating HP spool and uses the core of the very reliable Trent 500. It is the only A380 engine that can be transported on a Boeing 747 freighter whole.

The plane was probably close to maximum take off weight with a full fuel load and the pilots were being a little cautious as the temperature at departure was moderately warm, so they did a cruise climb also for the best fuel economy over the 9+ hour flight to Miami

***** I don't like quiet planes. Why because you don't know if those jets are working, hehehehehehe. The 747 sound for me I like the best. For being outside the 707 sounds the best, hehehehehehe. whew are they loud indeed. Besides air travel today is a pain in the ass. I now like to go by train, and have good food, seating and a lot of relaxing involved without all that damn security crap.

Did anyone stop to think that the flight out of FRA airspace may have been instructed to operate within certain height limitations rather than thinking the aircraft is the issue or it's underpowered or it's going to stall or it doesn't make the right flavour of ice-cream...?! That type of departure is very common at airports where there are multiple runway / high departure and arrival numbers.

Contrary to what one might expect, the A380 is not particularly demanding about runway length and it can take off basically from the same runway lengths of an A340 or 777, and usually less than a 747. In test flights, the A380 successfully took off from runways as short as 2200 m (albeit not at the MTOW, of course). If that were the only problem, most of the world's international airports could accomodate it. However, pavement resistance, room for taxiing maneuvers and on the apron (especially because of the very large wings) are another story, and they're usually the reasons why the A380 is not approved for regular operations in many airports with long runways.

@goytabr
@goytabr 9 жыл бұрын
Safdar Karim, no, not really. After the Air France crash near Paris, flights were banned for some time, but later resumed. Concorde was taken out of service because it was uneconomical, made huge financial losses for AF and BA, and they had long wanted to get rid of it. Now it would be impossible because all remaining Concordes were either scrapped or converted to museum exhibits, they are not airworthy, there are no more spare parts and no more mechanics with the expertise to put them in flying condition again (nor is there anyone willing to pay for it). Unless there is some amazing breaktrough in fuel or propulsion technology, supersonic passenger flights will always be uneconomical and unfeasible.

Be glad you got to ride one. As fast as they came into service they will be going out. 8 year tare downs are showing multiple micro fracture in many of the wing components. Airbus stopped making them this year due to cost and lack of demand. By 2030 they will be gone.

The same. However when fitted with 4 Trent XWB-97s, it will be far more powerful than GEs or P&Ws when it comes to efficiency..

AdMiRaLeDpIeTt yes I know Trent XWB is the sole engine for A350, but there are more than 1 variant of the A350, -800 -900 and -1000. And the latest RR XWB 97k I thought was for the -1000

@FBWFTW

+Atharva Bendre uhhh... UNKNOWN? I don't think so pal... Check your sources... How about it's TWO of the three biggest engine makers IN the world in Pratt and Whitney and surprise GENERAL ELECTRIC (as well as two other big [and some smaller] partners for components in MTU Aero & Safran) in the world getting together to create an engine with 74,735 to 81,500 lbf worth of thrust!! EA was formed in 1996 just to make engines for the new high capacity long haul planes like the cancelled B747-500/600. And guess what your "not a GE" engine is based around??!?!?!? A GE90-110/115b core with a Pratt and Whitney fan! So it is very much so a GE engine, and a Pratt and Whitney engine...

but the Trent 900 is about 40% smaller than the EA GP7000 which is a far better and more reliable engine for the A380.
@raykrislianggi
@raykrislianggi 8 жыл бұрын
+Brian Su 40% smaller? The Trent 900 has higher thrust rating than the GP7000, and the triple spool architecture requires less maintenance. If The GP7000 is the better engine for the A380, then Emirates wouldn't have switched to RR for their recent massive order.
@BrianSu
@BrianSu 8 жыл бұрын
+raykrislianggi - AniMusic Go speak with an Airbus engineer and get their opinion. The Trent 900 always gives problems. It is rare that a flight would complete without issues like fuel pump failure, which is a very common occurrence. Trent also takes longer to cool down. It it has had more issues in production too, e.g. Qantas Airways flight 32 and today's Malaysian Airlines flight 2
@raykrislianggi
@raykrislianggi 8 жыл бұрын
+Brian Su You're still bringing up Qantas flight 32 as your argument? Recently, a BA GE90 burst into flame due to uncontained failure and injured over 10 people. Should the failure happen mid-air, there's no guarantee that the plane would even make it back to the airport with the intense smoke potentially filling up the cabin. No one was injured in QF32 and the engine didn't catch fire. About a week ago, there's smoke coming out of JAL B737-800 CFM56 engine no. 2 and entered the cabin, two passengers had minor injuries and one passenger was seriously injured. A few years ago, GEnx-2B on a 747-8F shut down mid-flight due to icing. GE and P&W uncontained engine failures killed hundreds combined in the past, while no RR turbofan caused a single fatal crash since their first run over 50 years ago. If you bring up engine reliability as your argument, then history's not on your side. If you're talking about maintenance, then I'll remind you again: *three-spool architecture is simpler to maintain* and is *lighter than two-spool architecture*. Try asking Emirates on why did they switch to RR for their 50 new A380, I'm sure they have some good reasons. And try asking Airbus why they chose RR as the sole engine supplier of the A350, A330neo, and A380neo. I don't feel like someone claiming the Trent 900 is 40% smaller than the GP7000 knows what the hell he's talking about anyways. Hell, I don't even know what that means. I'm tired of seeing GE fanboys whining in every RR-powered airplane videos on KZbin as if GE engines are made by the gods.
