"I didn't run away this time, right?" Obliterates me every time. We all want to feel at least once before it is all done that we were worth a damn, even just for a moment. Eddy is dying and he looks at Dustin with his eyes begging for the mercy of his approval so that his last breath might end with a sigh of relief from the pain of wishing he were wanted. Bravery is not being unafraid, it is choosing to act despite being terrified; putting yourself to the hazard to do what is right even though you are unsure if you will make it through in the end. Eddy was brave, he didn't run away when it mattered.

2 things i want to mention. 1. Lucas screaming "Maaaaax" - The actor needed to scream "Nooo" instead, but forgot about it in all emotions, that is kind of cool 2. Eddie in the end "i love you"- to Dustin, and Dustinds respond "i love you to" is totally made up by actors, Eddie actor just wanted to said that, and Gaten perfectly respond to that. Its not big, but its kind of cool thing to know.

​@Avalee325 Spartan actually does know better, in this case. Vecna is an unreliable narrorator. It is incredibly clear that the Mind Flayer held a grudge against El in S3 because of her actions in S2, and had no recollection of anything to do with her prior. It also spoke in "we" vernacular distinct from Vecna's. There is a Canon prequel play centered on Vecna's childhood origin story which spells out that his first contact with the MF was actually while he was a kid, and that his descent into childhood serial killer madness was egged on by that shadow entity. Note he was drawing pictures of the mindflayer's spidery form as a child long before supposedly ever seeing it. It is strongly implied that the Mind Flayer is simply allowing Vecna to *think* he's the one in control, but given his total lack of recal of any of the events of the prequel (wherein the manipulation began) the MF has clouded his memory as it did when possessing Will, but over a far longer time frame. Vecna's own fortelling to Nancy of the emergence of a giant creature from the Upside Down seems to suggest a higher power is still involved. Also note the vastly greater capabilities of the MF itself than Vecna vs Eleven (Eleven has managed to directly contend with Vecna twice. However it took everything she had in S2 just to hold back the tip of one MF tentacle, and the remnant construct in S3 was too much for her outright, managing to completely depower her). I would recommend looking up "The First Shadow," which is the name of the Canon prequel play. It very much clarifies the Vecna-Mind Flayer dynamic. It's story outline was conceived of by the Duffer Brothers themselves.

I fully agree that the song Eddie plays in this is a far more epic scene than the "cringe" we got with the Suzie song, BUT; for someone that grew up in the 90s with movies like Dark Crystal, Labyrinth and Neverending Story, that theme tune hits a very specific note of nostalgia that reminds me of the imagination of my childhood. Since those movies involve children, monsters and darker underlying themes that modern childrens shows don't attempt, it very much connected with the theme of Stranger Things. Would advise watching Neverending Story, it may be a childrens movie but it has a lot of depth.

But if Eddie lived and they failed with Max anyways then yes it would still open but they just think it's an earthquake and the red is inner earth or something, like Murray said in season two people can't believe the impossible or what they don't understand you have to water it down, so even if they see red at the gate the government isn't going to let anyone look down there and no one will see Vecna so the people will not believe them even if they tried to tell the town who opened the gate and that there is another evil word down there. Some might believe that it is possible but the majority won't and they would have to convince the cops that it's true and not to arrest Eddie, that would be a difficult task I think. So they made him go out a hero

When Eleven mentions to One “It was always you”, if you think back to the very first episode of when Will was taken, when he’s in the shed hiding, something unlocked the shed door to get to him. It’s a big theory that it was Vecna who took him, and not the demagorgan since we haven’t seen any of the demagorgans use any kind of psychic ability like El or Vecna.

I have read a good amount about this theory and also the first creature we see when Will falls of his bike and there’s a chime noise like the clock. It’s a good theory with a lot of merit, but supposedly it’s just coincidental that the first creature resembles Vecna, and the telekinesis was an oversight because they hadn’t quite figured out how the demagorgans would operate at that point. On Steve not using the axe, Robin and Nancy were doing the ranged attacks and he would've been caught in friendly fire. Better not to engage until Vecna closed in! On Jonathan not being as needed by Will because Will's older, I don't think you guys caught on but that scene was about Will being closeted and in love with Mike, which Jonathan caught on to in the van scene over the painting. Jonathan very much is helping Will through something extremely difficult!

Max is dead. Vecna absorbed her. That's why the gate opened. El was able to use Force CPR to bring her body back to life, but nobody's home. However, that's probably how the entire thing gets resolved. The other victims bodies are long dead and gone - if you freed them from the pillars, if it was even possible, there's nothing for them. My guess is that as part of the climax to season five, Max gets freed and returns to her body. Without the fourth victim, the super gate can't remain open and it closes, weakening One to the point where El can destroy him once and for all.

I have to admit, I was one of the few that immediately geeked out recognizing Conan The Barbarian's sword when Hop spotted it on the ground. I guess that movie didn't make it to the 21st Century zeitgeist because so few people picked up on that easter egg. lol Such a classic flick. Spartan would love it.

Since it has always been Vecna, it is crazy to think back to all the previous seasons with Vecna's connection to El in mind. One moment that many fans pointed out was when Billy was at Heather's house for dinner, and Max and El try to confront him. Billy sees El and you can see something change in his face and then he asks "And who might you be?". Almost as if he saw something familiar about El, which would make sense for Vecna. Not saying this is for sure what was intended in that scene, but it is a pretty cool theory.

Spartan vibing with Metallica in the most metal concert ever. On a side note, I've been in many storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, a couple blizzards that dumped feet of snow per hour. The most unreal weather I have ever been in was a storm twenty years ago off the coast of Georgia. The rain would come and go, and it wasn't particularly heavy. Wind would gust up violently, and then just die suddenly for minutes at a time. There was very little thunder, and it was dark as night due to the clouds, at around four in the afternoon. But the lightning. It was all red. It wasn't striking the ground, it was just leaping from cloud to cloud, all red, with some dark purple, and lighting up everything. The clouds looked like they were boiling, and you could see it for miles, jumping, glowing, moving through the sky. When this episode premiered, and Eddie was jamming, the Upside Down looked just like that day at work during the red lightning storm.

I think the point of the triangle being re-ignited is to make the loss of one of Jonathan or Steve hit harder in s5. I think honestly one of them has to die. The question is if it'll be the one Nancy rejects, leaving them free to do something heroic and die, or if the Duffer Brothers want to make it dark, have the one Nancy picks die, and the one she rejected feels bitter about it and they never get back together afterwards. Personally, I think it makes (narrative) sense that Jonathan dies next season protecting Will, who is still connected to Vecna. It ties up a couple storylines beyond the triangle - it kind of completes Joyce's arc of defying the Upside Down by fighting for her son in s1 by losing a son to it in s5. And obviously it caps off the story between Will and Jonathan. The question to me is: do the Duffers' do the typical thing, lead Nancy to Steve, freeing Jonathan up to heroically sacrifice himself? Or do they do the much more interesting thing (storywise), cementing Jonathan in his family unit finally solid - mother, brother, girlfriend, let him die heroically but knowing he's fully loved, only to take it away from everyone else? And then Steve has to simply be her friend since their relationship won't be going anywhere. As a writer, some interesting reasons to reignite the triangle, imo. The Steve crushing on Robin thing was just an arc in Robin's story, not Steve's, imo. IMO Steve's larger arc is his inability to have a successful relationship after Nancy because he's always been hung up on her.

The point of the triangle is that they have no idea how to write female characters. She's always fantasizing being with the guy she's not currently dating. It's awful. I'm hoping Nancy dies in Season 5, I'm not even joking. Jonathan and Steve deserve so much better. The writers showed they have no idea what to do with Jonathan's character, especially if Will's not in some sort of immediate danger. if Nancy survives I'm hoping both Jonathan and Steve die.

Billy had too much hate, anger, and mental trauma in him and that is exactly what Vecna feeds upon. His ONLY redemption was at the very end when Eleven was able to tap into the only one part of good feelings inside of him. The guy who saw Erica running into the playground was the same person who stood up in the city hall meeting and started to walk out, turned and said, "You heard the kid, what are you waiting for." The shadow monster escaped when the guards opened fire and broke the glass then it went into and re-animated the dead Demodogs. Eleven was able to save Max's body so if they were able to get her mind away from Vecna/Henry/001 she would have a physical body to come back to. However, when you see EL later calling out for Max, she doesn't find her.

In the very first episode when Will gets taken, we see a flash in the street of what looks like the demogorgan, but there's theories that it was actually Vecna. Also, in that same scene, it's the first time we hear something that sounds like a clock when that thing appears in the street, and there's been many instances in the show where you hear that clock sound.

ngl i feel like ya'll missed will's whole internal crisis; he's gay, and he's in love with mike. the picture he'd been working hard on was a kind of love note to mike, that's why it was referenced in the beginning that "will's been working on something" and el thinks it may be for a girl. it's why he was carrying it all this time. but in the end, he used it to uplift mike and make him feel better about el, but as you guys saw, he was speaking on his own feelings as much as relating to mike. he's afraid of being different (because it's the 80's and rampant homophobia is active, same reason robin feared steve wouldn't wanna be around her if he knew she was a lesbian), and that mike wouldn't be around him anymore if he knew he was gay. Johnathan caught on to this in the car, and that's why that talk happened. the moment was sweet between them, but when you know that Johnathan is also telling will that he loves his brother for who he is, all of him and nothing will change that, becomes even more powerful and heartwarming.

Despite the fact how dark and depressing this season was , we also need to look on the positive side , Eddie died but he died like a hero and he’s toogether with Chrissy now , Max is in a coma but im pretty sure that she’s going to wake up after a while cause she’s way to much of a good character to not have a happy ending , and Vecna might have won this time but Eleven is going to make him pay in the most badass and satisfying way possible in season 5. Vecna is such an amazing villain though , “Five Star General” my ass , Dustin was so wrong about him , Vecna doesnt work for The Mind Flayer , he is The Mind Flayer , he was the one behind everything , he just gave the shadow it’s spider form and then used it to control Will in season 2 and Billy in season 3 , he is the final villain , and now that we know who the real threat is , all we have to find out now is how The Upside Down was created in the first place and how is it stuck in the past. This season was nothing but just an unbeliveable masterpiece , somany big moment’s happened in it and season 5 is going to be an unbeliveable masterpiece to , it’s going to be sad but im pretty sure that there’s also going to be some happiness to it too and it’s going to make us feel satisfied. And also who know’s maybe we are going to see all the character’s who have died one last time as flashback’s , i really want to see Eddie , Chrissy , Billy , Bob and Barb again , so in wich way we can get a proper goodbye with them rather than just seing them die a painfull death by monster’s.

a commonly overlooked piece of lore dropped by Papa, Henry consumes the soul/powers of those he kills and has repeatedly told his victims that it was time to join him. I suspect all these victims will play a role in the last season somehow, as Eleven will have to free them for Max to ever awaken from the coma. Or possibly they will have to revolt against Henry from within to rescue Eleven. Either way, it's probably the most anticipated final season I've been waiting for.

The reason the upside down is stuck in the past, is that it was created the moment El opened the first gate in Hawkins. Everything around the gate except for humans and animals got copied into the parallel dimension, and that's why Nancy's diary stopped at that entry. Time moved on, but all the things lying around were probably just conserved the last years, while the outside kept on, overgrowing with the vines. Btw. Eddie and Chrissy were just acquainted, not even friends before, he just played for her before he got to know what really happened to her.

Eddie/Joseph Quinn get a lot of attention - and it is well deserved. Eddie's big moment with Metallica and all is one of the highlights of this entire series and he was just great overall. I'm excited to see his next career steps. But Caleb McLaughlin is the MVP of this episode. His performance in the scene with Max at the end was just heart-wrenching. And when he reunited with El in Max's hospital room I couldn't help thinking about how mistrustful he was of her back in season 1, and then seeing the bond they have now. And then I think about how much El didn't want anything to do with Max in season 2.
