The main problem with Dave Rubin is that he has no idea on how political philosophy works. This is because he thinks that Classical Liberalism is similar to Ayn Rand's libertarianism, which is false. However, the main problem with the show is that Rubin does not cover enough topics other then stuff about SJWs and identity politics. This is what ticks me off as a Eisenhower Republican about Dave Rubin, along with peddling conspiracy theorists and anti - intellectuals. The problem with the modern American Right from a moderate Republican (meaning Lincoln/TR/Eisenhower) is that it has devolved into conspiracy theorists and fear mongering.

I'm so disappointed with Dave Rubin. Initially I was actually a fan of the program, and I liked the idea of a liberal interviewing certain voices on the right or center. Some good talks. Especially when it came to Islam and the regresssive left I felt there was something important going on there (which was connected to why he left TYT, with their dispute with Sam Harris and all that). There might be other fields where the left could gain from listening to other viewpoints as well. I don't mind the idea of more communication. I fell off however when it seemed like Dave Rubin himself started to become more and more right wing, and he stopped interviewing people on the left, and this whole idea of "Lets just sit down and listen, and not disturb"-technique got a bit over the top. When I heard he gets sponsored by right wing pundits I understood he was not going back.

Her somewhat casual comparison to Anne Frank (which honestly I don’t think was made with any serious intent or thought) when you consider what she went through growing up in Lebanon during the civil war where Christians were actively being persecuted by Islamic militia, is not a great stretch I think for anyone to make. She lived in an underground bomb shelter for 10yrs or something. She’s been boots on the ground for years during actual conflict. How many of us in the West have any experience of war, or even been near one...? It takes people like Rubin, for people to feel comfortable enough to speak. Not everyone is an expert interviewer, master debater, and no one on the planet has full awareness of the things they say and do. No matter how smart we are, no one really has their own self, let alone the whole world figured out. I think this is a fair critique of Rubin, and if I were to do a youtube interview show, I would not be the type of person who would be good at challenging people. But I am really good at getting people to talk and express themselves. However, it's important to note, that if you want people to fully show their ideas, be open and vulnerable, you can't do it from a point of conflict. Rubin's show gives you something Pakman's show will never be able to do: Fully expressed ideas. And Pakman's show will provide insight that Rubin will never be able to do: a systematic, and fairly measured analysis from a progressive angle. What's great is we have universal access to both. The danger in talking about "responsible platforming" is that it's pretty clear that there is no central authority to what responsible platforming is, because we all have a completely different set of values/priorities. A terrible world would be one where someone in power decides that to be responsible, we should not give a platform to anyone who talks about ideas that could potentially lead to socialism.

I'm not a huge Dave fan but he probably has better things to do than film himself in his living room talking about Pakman
@twintalk29436 жыл бұрын
Trent Bell anyone can find something better to do. This has been a growing sentiment of Rubin for about a year+ now. Idk if he’s ever ever addressed these criticisms seriously or just brushed them off like most people would. I think it would benefit him to respond, not necessarily to Parkman, just to this growing idea about him in general. 🤷🏾♂️

Mostly conservatives/libertarians are interviewed because very few left wingers are willing to go on the show. Here in lies a significant difference between the left and the right. Folks on right (generally speaking) will talk to anyone and debate anyone. In fact we often prefer talking to people we disagree with because it makes for more interesting conversation...where as folks on the left tend to prefer talking to people who agree with them. That seems to be true as a general rule.

@@dawnadriana1764 I meant to say belittles or mocks, sorry english is not my native tongue, I'm sure you get the point or watch it again if it's unclear Some examples: Saying that something Rubin believes is disgusting Saying what should be appropriate or not appropriate for Rubin's show or how it "needs to be" conducted Saying in a very patronizing manner (this is, as anyone with half a brain would notice, a common theme throughout this rant) how "it's kinda dumb" that Rubin supposedly does not push back on Damore or Sargon (who in reality have completely reasonable liberal views) Saying how he doesn't know how he would live with himself if he was Rubin etc. I mean, is it really that hard to see how David would not exactly be welcome on Rubin's show? I would understand if it was an autistic person, which I assume you're not (correct me if I'm wrong)

"David rubin, from what iv'e read" - yeah, you lost me there. Ignorant. The fact that you're criticising Rubin for letting people air their views, whether rightly or wrongly, is what's wrong with the media today. Let people talk about their ideas, and then we can challenge them. If Rubin starts challenging people all the time, less will want to come on his show. One of the reasons why he's gotten so popular is for that very reason. He tries and leave bias at the door.
@TeknoSquirrel6 жыл бұрын
Freedom of speech isn't freedom to a microphone. Most of is audience is impressionable teens and the fact that he nods his head and mhm's conspiracy theories is damaging. You can criticise someone without bias. Agreeing frequently with right wingers means you are in fact biased.

@@mario_2529 the ugliest way to prove someone wrong is by dehumanizing them and claiming a moral ground. The truth is, culture will always be a opinionated debate. If a large group of people decide to live some way then that's fine until they force that on another culture. And by fine not saying is okay.
