I have had and utilized many teachers on KZbin and you are far the best. You break it all down and give scenarios where the viewer can learn and understand. I have always believed that people learn at different levels and with different people. I’m just one step closer to being excited to take my exam. Thank You!

So when I decided to take the AAPC COBGC exam I knew I needed to get better at selecting diagnosis code because I won't have Encoder Pro to help lol.. Hello Mrs. J, for ER coding should we code incidental findings from Radiology report. Another example is when the provider diagnosis is knee pain but the xtray impression is mild djd. Can I code the djd instead of knee pain?
@VictoriaWhite-dn7mc
@VictoriaWhite-dn7mc 8 ай бұрын
The example about the coma diagnosis - the question did not mention eyes open to pain or incomprehensible words. It said "glasgow coma scale revealed: Level 2 Coma" Therefore, I coded it as R40.2443 Glasgow coma scale - other coma, without documented Glasgow coma scale score, or with partial score reported, at hospital admission. I almost thought it was R40.2433, but that is 3 - 8, there is no score 1 - 2 listed.... Thank you for breaking down the guidelines and giving all these example problems! I haven't actually started my coding class (just the preq's from Career Step) but I'm enjoying getting a little pre-studying done. :)

Thank you again for an outstanding video. I do have one question about exercise 7. Would you use history codes to code existing HTN, DM, AND GERD? And if not, why not? Bless you for your help.
@AMCIMedicalCoding
@AMCIMedicalCoding 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. You use history codes ONLY when the patient has a past history of a condition (no longer present), and when that history of a condition is pertinent to the encounter.

@@AMCIMedicalCoding that means we'll code only for GERD here and not for HTN & DM and if we do code the other two then DM should also be coded in exercise 6? Is that so? Please do correct me.

I'm confused. on the coma scenario at 1:02:52 wouldn't the coma codes also include a 7th character or do they not need one since there is one on the S06.333A? I'm very new. looks like the book said to use a 7th unless there is a guideline I didn't learn correctly. Thanks for your wonderful videos.

Hello C C! You probably already figured it out, after 2 monthsm but I am currently having the same issue, however, as I looked through the comments, I found another comment with the same issue, and Mrs. Jay actually commented stating that she made a mistake with not putting the 7th character. So if we look at the little pink box above the codes and under "Coma Scale" then we can find the 7th character ourselves. The exercise starts with "arrives at the ED" So I assume the coma and laceration was discoved upon arrival at the ED, meaning I believe the 7th character will be 2. So the final codes will be: S06.333A, R40.2122, R40.2222.

@@ScuffdSissy No worries, all it told me is that there had to be a 7th character, just like you stated, she never stated what the 7th character was, so I'm guessing its #2. Hopefully I'm correct lol

Hello, the MCG Manual is a textbook AMCI sells themselves. I do not know of it is yet permitted in the test site, but it contains the guidelines explained in a more straight and concise point. It only lists guidelines and sequencing order directions, no codes.
