OMG. I do agree supporting as low as possible. I found out by accident that my voice actually sounds more solid and full if I support it properly at the abdomen area. This is why I like to do some light cardio to engage the abdomen muscle before practice singing.

The more squeezing of the diaphragm area the tighter the throat becomes.Breath support is based upon the fullness that one feels on the the inhale. So proper inhale becomes your support system and you neither pull away from it nor help it with squeezing.Any squeezing or tightening will create tightness in the larynx therefore one feels the largeness from the Proper inhale and neither helps it or draws back from it.
